i just bumped into a client at work who happens to be a collingwood supporter,

once we got past sledging each other, he mentioned to me see you in the the nab cup grand final...i replied with we have to get past geelong first which i dont think we can do with the stars we will be missing.

is this possible and are we likely to make the final or are we not really taking it to seriously since we are looking at resting our big names?

This is the strange dilemma the match committee faces...

we lose, we will be playing Fremantle in some Woop-Woop town in WA (AFL providing us with a charter flight).....

But Ratts has already said that our final practice match will be a full dress rehearsal for round 1, meaning that basically our planned team for round 1 will be pretty much getting bulk of the game.

Would we want our full dress re-hearsal to be played for some reasonable $$$ and the awesome chance of playing against the Pies/Essendon (2 hated rivals) in some form of Final, at a good ground. I would... but to do so we prob have to go against our decision to rest some of our good players...

I say rest Fev, Judd and Murphy and Simpson this week and lets see if our kids can stand up and show some hunger in the belly.

Given there are 4 Victorian Teams left,
and all are huge drawing clubs,
can the gf be shifted to the MCG?

Interesting question, but I would think not...

1) The AFL would of made a booking at the Dome for the game already (not that an AFL booking made much of an impact when there was the soccer GF clash), and may have to compensate the dome.

2) Don't think the MCG would be ready to host a footy game at that time.. they'd need to be removing the cricket pitch... setting up the goal posts... probably do some returfing.. etc etc....

3) Even though it's a NAB final... Carlton V Collingwood would probably just fill the Dome anyway, so it's a reasonably sized venue.

I'm just looking at the Baggy Green site,
and there is only one more shield game at the G starting tomorrow,
the final is listed at the Junction oval.

I remember they shifted Carlton v Geelong final in 1997? and got 80 odd thousand.

Yeah true, but I still think having to probably compensate the Dome may be the clincher, although perhaps when the AFL bent over too easily for the Soccer GF a few weeks ago maybe they did so for a reason (perhaps thought a G NAB final may be on the cards)??? ....

Although the atmosphere of a packed Dome would be a pretty good spectacle.

Imagine Geelong v Pies - neither team would know when it was their turn to choke !

Geelong - the bayside Collingwood.

Collingwood, slang for 2nd is close enough.

Dress rehearsal in WA, no prying eyes or video scrutiny for round 1.

Still, would love to see the kids give it a red hot go. fisher FF playing out of the square but geelong should be the better team.

ctacp
curlier than a catoggio pube

but what a better reason for a full dress rehearsal than a chance to get some more silverware in the cupboard

IMO it has more to do with how many of Geelong's stars are played.

Yeah, but it has come back to bite us the last couple of times.

Yes, but that was only weeks into Pratt's presidency and pre-Swann, pre-Ratts, pre-Judd & pre-Cordy etc. An entirely different club many a lifetime ago i.e. irrelevant.

They shifted the shield final to the junction oval to make way for the bushfire appeal concert at the 'G

I thought the NAB Cup Grand Final was a Friday night at the MCG.

It was Saturday night but was shifted forward to Friday so the concert could take place on the Saturday.

Whilst I dont care either way, a small part of me wants us to win all the time, but having said that, the last time we focussed on something beyond the next game we were uncerimoniously dumped out of the 8 never to return......one game at a time please.

Woop woop
I think Bunbury is third biggest behind Perth and Fremantle.
It is almost a southern suburb these days.
Nice place and only 1 hour from God's own Bridgetown!

A left-field coach might decide to make our next game our last serious hit out - hope for a win so that nobody travels to Woop Woop West - rest the stars NAB GF week as it would be great experience for the kids and we don't need the tinplate anyway as we have real silverware in the cupboard ;)

They really do have a life of their own.
