I am seriously thinking about going onto naked DSL but don't know anyone else thats on it.
Is there anyone using it at the mo that give give me some feedback i.e. pro's/con's etc

It's good if you don't want to pay line rental for a phone you don't use, I sell it and it seems pretty popular.

You can always check Whirlpool to see what other people think.

I'm on there ATM.
My concern is more that none of the bigger telco's are keen on getting onto it. There is a murmur out there that it is being released at too low a cost.

There are a couple of providers out there now, Iinet and Internode that immediately spring to mind. I should switch over, but its barely worth it - it will save me $5 a month. Can't see why there should be any issues with it.

i am about to move into a new place and thinking this may be the best way to go as it can be useful to have a home phone, but probably not useful enough to pay line rental. where as i am keen to have the net.

some people have said the phone (voip phone?) can be fairly unreliable, does anyone know about this?

Voip isn't quite as good as a regular landline, but unless you have really major needs than it is fine. I've been running engin for the past couple of years without any major issues and haven't even had the regular landline plugged in.

I have been using Nodephone from internode for a while now and really I cannot tell the difference between it and a land line. I have had the land line unplugged recently as it got to the stage where the only calls I got on it were from telemarketers. If you could plug the foxtel box into your voip (and I don't know why they couldn't allow that as you can have a regular phone number with voip, it can be called from regular phones etc.) then I'd get rid of the land line and get naked.

The Foxtel is probably data which doesn`t play well with voip. Silly thing is it could probably all be done over the internet via the ADSL but they may not have that facility in place.

AFAIK the only thing you need the phone line for is to order box office and PPV movies. My sister hasn't got hers connected to the phone line and it works fine, all they need to do when they want one of those is call up and book it manually. The stupid thing is that while it will operate fine without a phone line, you need one for your account.

The bastards!
thats actually wrong, you dont need anything for foxtel, you need a phone to have Foxtel, through a telstra bill (absolutely no difference)
just like you need a phone line with optus to have optus Vision, which is just OPTUS Foxtel.

So in conclusion you can get Foxtel, with nothing else.
How do I know? because I have it myself ;)
and it was just as cheap to be honest

Well I have been on Naked for a while now and no probs at all.......except one

I am absolutely chomping through the Gigs and i'm not sure why.
I have been told many times that being on the VOIP doesn't take up much bandwidth and also that tey count upload as well as download but I still think it gets used up pretty quickly :confused:

Anyone else have this issue??

I have Skype $6 a month unlimited Aus calls.
I still have a landline because its part of the bigpond deal.
Only reason i got big pond was to watch AFL
I use the landline to recieve calls and dial 1300 numbers (as its cheaper than doing it through skype which times them and charges)
