Now i havent exactly followed his career all that closely but recently got his illmatic album after reading it was critically acclaimed a sone of the best.

What do people think, how does he cmpare to pac, biggie, ice cube and the others?

Better rapper than Pac easily, but not as good as Big. I prefer him to Ice Cube but that's personal opinion.

Apart from Illmatic which is brilliant from start to finish (except maybe One Time 4 Your Mind which is an average track), Nas hasn't followed up with another classic album - even Jay-Z trumps that with Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint. God's Son and Stillmatic have their moments though.

Many people consider him the best rapper, but i find it hard to put him infront of Pac who had about 5 or 6 good albums. I would say he's almost on the same level as Biggie, but not consistent enough with his albums. Illmatic though would probably be the best hip-hop album ever, but he was only able to produce 2 good albums after that. I say he's better than Jay-Z simply because he won that beef with him with the song 'Ether', which was simply amazing. So in my opinion he's maybe top 5, as theres Rakim and Big Pun who are also terrific.

i think he is one of the best lyricists along with eminem pac and biggie. I only threw ice cube in there as an example, overall ice has had more of an impact on the rap world but has nothing that compares to illmatic. I think nas is better then jayz without a doubt.

What do people think about hip hop is dead album??

i've only heard 3 songs off it and i think it's getting better then his other stuff but still illmatic is way better. I gave you power is a great track.

It's very good. A few average tracks in the first half of the album (Who Killed It baffles me really...I know lots of people 'get it' though) but the second half is outstanding imo.

Has he ever came to Australia and if so, when?

Yer it's one of his better albums, though it's not getting enough exposure to produce mass sales, as 50 cent and The Game are apparently the best rappers these days according to most teenagers.

i liked 50's first album with songs such as: what up gangsta, high all the time, many men and if i cant but his newer stuff is boring club music bar gatman and robin. I must say i think the game is underrated and has one of the best diss songs i've heard "240 bars" as well as some extremely good tracks: dreams, start from scratch, one blood, too much, westside story and lets ride. How we do is soo overrated though.

I'm not sure if he came to ausralia or when. I only started listening to him after i had heard of his illmatic album being regarded as the best debut album ever and game mentioned that he is amazing. 2pac even recognised his talents with lyrics such as "no offence to nas but this whole ****ing world is mine" which is credit to nas. I have heard that some critics disliked pac because he was too good (some rollingstone magazine interview thing) and others have said that nobody should bother trying to diss pac, because they stood no chance, hence mobb deep waiting till he died.

Or just a reference to "The World Is Yours", Pac may well have thought Nas talented but the lyric you quoted doesn't show it.

I honestly don't rate Illmatic at all, maybe someone could tell me what's so great about it?

Apparently just before Pac died Nas and Pac settled their beef, and some of the diss tracks of Nas on the 7 Day Theory (another good rap album) were supposed to be taken off, though the album was already in production and would have been expensive to edit the whole album again. That's why you see Nas tributing Pac with the song Thugs Mansion (acoustic), and using the beat of F*** Friends, on his track "Ether" were he disses Jay-Z.

not the biggest fan of nas, never really got into illmatic

his beef with hova was fun while it lasted, 2 true rappers going head to head is always nice, ether killed ya boy

as for pac, his image and character has been r*ped since his death, would never be as popular if was still alive!

Nas is one of my favourite rappers. Got great lyrical skill, his flow is great through out illmatic, then you have great albums in stillmatic, the lost tapes and it was written. His last two albums havent been the best but is still top 5 I think.

He murder Jay-Z with Ether, and it is probably one of the most respect hip hop artists in the game.
