In spite of another Malthouse article stating he was never 'great mates' with Buckley, also, that Buckley was 'resistant' about there being some sort of mentor role, I wonder when Buckley will come out as the Collingwood coach and make any sort of statement.

I think Nathan is too smart to get involved with Mick's parting comments. He has handled himself with absolute class this season and has refused to get involved with the media circus.

Quite the opposite to Mick.

Personally, I don't see Bucks making any comment at all. I see him very much in the Luke Ball mould. He won't pour a bucket on Mick (even if he had a right to).

Look at how he has gone about his duties in his two years as an assistant. We have barely heard from him and he has fulfilled them to the best of his abilities and placed the team first.

He will maintain a level of respect for Mick and will just move on and get on with business now that he has the most prestigious job in the land.

Bucks' will do what he has done over the past 2 seasons, stay relatively quiet until he is officially appointed coach, which should happen sometime this week, although he won't speak at all till next week due to Micks' farewell at the Copeland this week.

Bucks has been all class over the past 2 seasons, never giving in to the media and never making any outlandish, or nasty comments about anyone, let alone Mick.

Nathan Buckley is the right man to lead us forward, that much has been proven over the past few days, and that much will be proven over the next few weeks.:thumbsu:

Buckley will I think come out of this whole saga of mick V buckley with his integrity intact.Whether or not you agree with the decision to replace MM I
think Buckley has handled himself aplomb,we have not seen him or anyone close to him making adverse comments about mick,it is a pity it has not been recipriated.

Malthouse has done a good job but I would be a lot more worried if we were to lose EdMac he is the man responsible for the position the club finds itself in.

I thank MM for his great service to the club and for the 2010 premiership. I think he ought to now bite his tongue because he doing himself no favours at all.

I have noticed over the last 2 years that we have not heard one adverse word from Bucks, not one leak of his "private" thoughts either. I think Bucks has more class than to say something negative. He has the job now and what he does from here will define him.

Agree totally, besides, what's to say?
Think it is interesting that our succession/mentor plan hasn't worked for us but look at the other teams following suit. Essendon, Swans did it, Melbourne and I am sure others will follow. We are leaders!

Well actually our succession plan has worked. Mick prepared Buckley for the role, Bucks takes over and as what happens in most businesses the senior person retires (or joins the media circus)
