Buckley also had a message, declaring anyone abusing the premiership star was not a true Magpie supporter. ''Trav is one of us. He is one of our players that is absolutely focused on getting [us] playing our best football and giving ourselves the best chance of success in 2012,'' he said. ''If you are not supporting us in that end, you are not one of us.''

A great message from our coach to all the Trav haters. Go Pies.

Good on him! The way some have turned on him is disgusting. He's still a Pies player until October 31st and we don't eat our own (at least we haven't since Ed took charge).

The fact that Buckley is speaking from first hand experience, after he was booed in 96 when some thought he'd sign with the Power, just adds more weight to his comments IMO.

No, the best line was his swipe of old crazy sheeds. Something along the lines of 'sheeds can worry about next year, we'll worry about the game'.

Quality.

So the Club can pressure the supporters to pay up under the "with us or against us", but when the supporters expect the same of a player, we get accused of being against the Club?

Sorry Nath, stop telling us how to think and what to say. Stick to your job of finding a gameplan that can beat the Hawks.

I support Travis because he wears the black and white my only problem is its him that is being greedy
a lot of people are blaming his oldman but Travis is a 25 year old man he should tell his oldman to STFU,
I am Collingwood and I'm staying here so I'm signing

You would not expect anything less than sheer professionalism from Buck,s but I wonder whether there is a difference between his public thoughts and his private ones,Cloke,s performance in this whole affair has not earned him public loyalty.

Good on Buck,s for behaving in the right manner,It proves once again we picked the right man for the job.

On field, when he is playing I will support him to the hilt. His off field bullshit however will not allow me to support him at any other time.

April - "I won't be dealing with my contract until the end of the season" - Travis Cloke
May - "We will be asking Travis to begin negotiations prior to the end of the season" - Walsh
May - "I'm happy to listen to what the club has to say" Travis
July - "We will put off all negotiations til the end of the season" - Pert

What part of that makes you want to turn against Travis or the club?

It's also his job to get the best out of his team and players. Standing by Travis in the face of a lot of negative comments by club supporters is to that end. The goal is wining another flag this year and Buckley is in the best position to judge if Travis is with the club in that.

That was exactly Buckley's point.

Travis is one of us.

Travis has signed up and has committed to play for us today. So we support him today.

He has signed up and has committed to play for us next week. So we support him next week too.

Etc.

As for who is or isn't in our 2013 squad, that is so far into the future and so much can change between now and then. Of course it is a worthy topic of debate and discussion. But let's not forget that there is a 2012 Premiership to be won, and Travis Cloke is an important part of that campaign for Collingwood.

Hopefully two months of football left for the Pies. May as well support as much as we can. Won't really achieve too much if the supporters vocally turn on Trav during games. Will most likely cause further distraction and division. If/when he goes then unleash all fury. Until then we're still in with a shot at the flag.

He can and should stand by Trav, but not at the expense of a cheap shot at supporters / members. Just because supporters are sick of the crap being dished out by Cloke both on and off field, it doesn't mean we're not wish us.

It cheapens the whole side-by-side notion by applying it all the time. Just like we've cheapened the Collingwood chant by playing it over the PA system before the games.

You openly criticise Cloke and the Club but take offense when Bucks criticises you. How does that work?

And its you who is cheapening the side by side notion. If you didn't do it, there would be no need for Bucks to respond.

Not sure how you believe Trav isn't showing loyalty. He's busting his gut every week for the club, sure his form sux but it isn't through want of effort. Frankly your attitude sux.

As an aside note...

Anybody else notice that there is a bit of a game being played out between us posters and our mods at the moment?

Our mods are doing their best effort to contain Cloke talk to one thread by merging threads.

And us posters are doing our level best to turn this into a Cloke-ingwood forum by sneaking in Cloke talk under the guise of toasting Nathan Buckley, or creating a fake Cloke rumour thread that will have crazy context if merged, or by raising Cloke scenarios in Knightmare's (otherwise excellent) draft tread.

He honestly doesn't even look like he tries very hard IMO. Don't agree with Bucks I'm sorry. Last time I checked supporters were allowed to have an opinion and not have crap shoved down their throats. If a player is not performing, is out of contract and wants more money, I think I have the right to criticize.

How many times a week do you run 15k's?
How many times a week does your body get crashed into every 5 minutes?

Perspective please

I don't think Bucks is shoving anything down anybody's throat. He simply said "Cloke is one of us ... and if you're not supporting us then you're not one of us". Can you fault that logic?

'Criticizing' and 'supporting' aren't mutually exclusive.

We criticise player performances week after week. Even the coaches criticise player performances (albeit usually more tactfully than us supporters do).

But we still support them.

Exactly, I criticised Sinclair mercilessly on here but cheer for him till my throat is sore when he plays.

What type of idiot (Mods delete that word if inappropriate) would think its a good idea to organise a march to the Westpac Centre to sack Cloke?
What type of idiot thinks its a good idea to boo one of their own players?

The OP's quote says absusing Cloke, which I'm taking it as criticizing. I'm disappointed in his performances and I'm upset that he hasn't signed a contract, therefore I will criticize him. I still want Cloke to get a kick and obviously want Collingwood to win, therefore I am still a Collingwood supporter.

I hope you weren't subtly referring to me there as I also think that it is ridiculous. I still support him in the match, like you with Sinclair.
