Anybody else notice that there is a bit of a game being played out between us posters and our mods at the moment?

Our mods are doing their best effort to contain Cloke talk to one thread by merging threads.

And us posters are doing our level best to turn this into a Cloke-ingwood forum by sneaking in Cloke talk under the guise of toasting Nathan Buckley, or creating a fake Cloke rumour thread that will have crazy context if merged, or by raising Cloke scenarios in Knightmare's (otherwise excellent) draft tread.

Good point however I think this thread is a response to the negativity present in the main Cloke thread. If it is merged it will be lost amongst all the rumour and hate. I think it is appropriate for supporters who want to stand by the club and Cloke to have a separate opportunity to show some faith.

Last time I checked supporters were allowed to have an opinion and not have crap shoved down their throats. If a player is not performing, is out of contract and wants more money, I think I have the right to criticize.

I think a lot of the posts regarding Cloke have gone beyond opinion and into pure hate and disrespect. The guy has played over 150 games, is a Copeland winner and premiership star. He deserves better than what he is getting from a lot of supporters in here.

Simon Buckley must be loving this...I like Cloke, I hope he stays and I hope he gets as much money as he can because football life is short. I hope he finds form and drives us to the last weekend in September. I hope we win the premiership and I hope the world is free of poverty.

They're different. Compare "criticizing your child for not doing their homework" and "abusing your child for not doing their homework". They have distinctively different connotations. There is a term "constructive criticism" but I'm not sure that there is such a thing as "constructive abuse".

I'm disappointed in his performances and I'm upset that he hasn't signed a contract, therefore I will criticize him. I still want Cloke to get a kick and obviously want Collingwood to win, therefore I am still a Collingwood supporter.

If Cloke was in good form he would not be subject to the current level of scrutiny. The problem is that he is terribly out of form, and it appears that his ongoing contract saga is effecting his game. Buckley and Maxwell have both admitted as much when questioned.

The reason many supporters are frustrated is simply that they see this year's premiership slipping away from the club, and Cloke's lack of form has much to do with this frustration. The first thing that these posters feel needs to happen to change the situation is for Cloke to sign a contract. The same supporters are angry at him for seemingly putting his own greed for money ahead of the team ambition.

I do not think that the supporters are being very unreasonable - they have already seen last year what can happen when an individual places his own ambitions ahead of the club's need to win a premiership.

Unfortunately Cloke has lost respect because of the way he's conducted himself this year, he won't get the monkey off his back until he commits to the club. When you're asking for a million bucks a year and also playhing like shit of course you're going to get bronx cheers, thats not people ripping on Trav for no reason thats people making fun of him for holdding the club to ransom while he's being carried by his team, no issue with that at all.

Maybe tonights game signals a return to form, if Cloke starts playing like he's worth a million bucks maybe people will be a lot more forgiving of him for asking that much, pretty simple.

Firstly what facts do you have he is asking for $1 mill a year?

Never booed a Collingwood player in my life. But I'll criticise and rip the shit out of them if I see fit. Pretty sure Cloke's form warrants it right now too.

A 900k a year forward doesn't play the way Cloke is playing right now.

Simple as that. Any denial of this fact by any Collingwood supporter is what should be a bannable offence.
