WHEN Nathan Eagleton first walked into the Happy Valley Football Club as a teenager he idolised the club's senior premiership stars.

In the two decades since he has played 287 AFL matches including three preliminary finals, and kicked more than 200 AFL goals.
But, despite those lofty heights, emulating his former heroes and becoming a Vikings premiership player on Saturday ranks as one of the proudest moments in his football career.
"To go the full circle and come back here to Happy Valley to where I started my career, and to play in a grand final and win a premiership feels very special," Eagleton said.
"For these guys (teammates) to bring me in and make feel part of this group, and then to win a premiership, it doesn't matter what level it is, it is what you play for and it is a special thing.
"I will know all these blokes forever now and we will catch up at re-unions and reminisce about today."

Saturday was the 33 year old's first premiership at any level.
Making the achievement extra meaningful was the fact he won it with his three brothers Jonathan, Damien and Michael.
Jonathan, now in the prime of his footballing years, has become a star at the Valleys and won the West Adelaide Medal for best on ground in Saturday's grand final.
He also won the SFL's Mail Medal awarded to the most outstanding player in the competition.
"To have three younger brothers and to all run out there together in a grand final is a little surreal," Nathan said.
"I left for Melbourne when Jonathan was 14. For me to come back and to see him tearing it up is amazing.
"It's really great to see and I'm very proud of him. I'm very proud of Michael and Damien as well."
Jonathan's last quarter heroics sealed the result for Happy Valley. The 26-year-old kicked three final term goals before cramping up and watching from the bench as the siren went.
"This is top of the list for me," he said.
"To be back at my first football club and to play in a premiership with the four brothers is unbelievable.
"I wanted to be out there when the siren went but I had nothing left. I was spent."

A BURNING desire to finish his footy days playing with his three brothers is about to be realised for former SANFL and AFL star Nathan Eagleton

Eagleton, 33, signed recently with Happy Valley Football Club where his brothers, Michael and Jonathan, already were playing.

Another brother, Damian, also signed with the Vikings recently and he had played three B-grade games at the time of writing.

Eagleton said he was counting the days until this Saturday when he ran out for the Vikings (against Noarlunga), possibly with some or all of his brothers alongside.

"It's really going to be exciting," he said.

"This is my old stomping ground and my motivation for coming back to the club.

"I played a couple of B-grade finals for the club when I was 15 (1994) but this will be my first A-grade game.

"When I was younger I watched the A graders (Valley) run out and wished I could be like them.

"Then I left to go to West Adelaide and then got drafted (Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs). I've never played with all my brothers and I can't wait if we do get the chance to do that.

"It will be a thrill for my dad Michael and mother Shirley - they can now stay at the one ground to watch us instead of racing all over the place." Meanwhile, Happy Valley still has tickets available for its sports night, after Saturday's game against Noarlunga, featuring former footy stars Doug Hawkins and Russell Ebert, media legend Ken Cunningham and comedian Russell Gilbert.
