I've had this on my mind for a while now and after reading a article on chris judd in the herald sun the other day, i am now more convinced than ever that nathan foley should become richmonds next captain !!

2009 will bring a complete changing at tigerland .. i think terry wallace will not get his contract re-newed, i think a younger coach will take his place ( possibly nathan buckley, michael voss, mark riccuto .. any of them 3 would be ideal )

after reading about chris judd earlier in the year about how when he started at wc, he (judd) and daniel kerr looked at the way ben cousin's trained and then they tryed to do everything he did !! because he was such a hard worker and such a good leader !! .. now chris judd has gone to the blues and smashed all there running records etc .. just goes to show how hard the wc worked over the last 5 years compared to carlton .. so you would now think that the young carlton brigade would be trying to train like chris judd now !!

this is where i started thinking about Nathan Foley at tigerland .. from everything i have read and heard from people, he is a running machine and trains harder than anyone at tigerland !! and after his 2007 season, it shows that if you train hard you will become a elite midfielder .. cousin's was a elite midfielder, then judd and kerr became elite midfielders .. now foley is becoming a elite midfielder !! ... so to end my thread, if foley keeps working harder and harder i hope the younger tigers look up to him and see him as the bench mark of how to train at tigerland !! he is our new leader in my eyes ..

One promising season does not a captain make...

Two seasons from now, if his all round game improves, if he truly does learn to lead by example on the field, shows that he's intelligent, can put sentences together and can hold a conversation (prove he's media savvy), then you can throw his name into the hat.

Promising players get to be captain at St Kilda, I want a great player to be captain at Tigerland.

One great year doent mean you become Captain look at Shane Tuck give it to Brownie with Foley as Vic see if he can back it up then change in 2 years Time.
I think this is the way to Go.

i didnt mean to give it to him in 08' .. i meant in in 2010 .. i agree completely with u .. but my way of thinking was that .. he is leading by example right now at training !! and i want the younger kids to follow his lead .. just like judd and kerr followed cousin's lead .. i dont think 1 good year makes a captain either, i didnt actually say in my post to make him captain because he only a good year .. he is showing more leadership atm than brown .. brown is our best player but that doesnt make him the best candidate to be captain

It will take pressure off Foley and groom him for the job
He is a gun and i agree with you but we dont want to burn him out like what other Clubs Do.

yehh i agree there .. i reckon he'll love the captaincy .. he has that look about him .. i also hope nathan buckley becomes our next coach .. that'd be awesome

I think we fall in love with our players easily. Just leave Jono with the captaincy until he's done.
