Season 1 News...

Doing it the Hard-ing way

Local Coolangatta junior, Nathan Harding, will move to Victoria next month, the first step to achieving a life long dream of playing AFL football.

The talented junior, who, up until last month, was playing in the southern Queensland under-17’s suburban competition, caught Victorian talent scouts attention, dominating the competition at the frail age of 13.

It is believed Denise and John Harding, Nathan’s parents, have moved to Victoria to help Nathan nurture his football talents against quality opposition.

Amazingly, he is also going to be paid for his services, though the amount and length of his contract are still to be negotiated.

He is expected to join the highest junior competition in Melbourne, though at Colts level, despite being 3 years younger than the maximum age requirement at the time of his debut,

Harding gains promotion

Queensland’s young footballing product, Nathan Harding, has gained a promotion to the reserves league of the Melbourne elite suburban competition before even debuting for his side.

After signing with the Yarravale Dragons for 1 season, and $2000 a week, Harding has been upgraded to a $4000 a week salary, although excluded in this salary are living and playing expenses, and specialized training expenses.

Harding, a 181cm and 75kg prospect, is expected to play as a forward pocket in his debut to reserves football, where he will meet players up to the age of around 25 in matches across the central suburbs.

Harding is a beautiful kick, and has proven pace, although he does lack handballing and marking skills, something that coach Peter Dallar will be keen to work on.

Round 1

Spotswood Swans (?) vs Yarraville Dragons (?)

Nathan Harding - Match Focus

Quarter 1: Understandably, Harding began the match very nervous, playing against bigger bodies than he was used to. Despite this, he adapted very easily, and earnt four disposals in an industrial quarter in which the coach ranked him as playing at about 26%.

Quarter 2: Yarraville fought their way back into the game after surrendering an early buffer, and as the ball came forward more often, Harding got his hands to it. Mid way through the quarter, Harding kicked his first league goal from 25 metres out, and he left the ground with a 7 disposal, 1.1 effort which his coach rated as being a 46% effort for him.

Quarter 3: Harding was kept entirely out of the play by a new opponent, and the coach was displeased to see only two more disposals next to Harding's name. His game day effort dropped to 36%.

Quarter 4: Yarraville finished with all the ascendancy, but Harding finished with just two more disposals and one more behind, bringing his tally up to 11 disposals and 1.2, something his harshest critic, the coach, rated as a 28% effort.

Scoreboard
Spo- 3.3 - 3.7 - 5.7 - 6.8.44

wtf is this
A story, what does it look like?

But obviously everyone has forgotten about the wonderful "Footy Star" application.

At least the other guys who didn't know queried through pm's instead of making ignorant fools of themselves.

I love Footy Star, it's so unrealistic. After entering the AFL at 17 went with Pick 49 to the Kangaroos, despite kicking 91/87/96 goals for the three earlier seasons. From there I kicked 151 goals in my second season and the Kangaroos still finished 15th, for the second time in a row. I was traded to Collingwood where I played 13 seasons and by the time I was 24, had kicked over 1000 goals and gained the captaincy of Collingwood.

I kicked over 100 goals every season in the AFL except my first season which I kicked 95, and consequently was the only season I didn't win the Coleman. I have finished third and fifth in the Brownlow a couple of times, once missing out by 2 votes after having a hamstring injury and missing four games that year.

By the time I was 27, I had eclipsed Tony Lockett's goal kicking record, and had finally won a premiership while captaining the club and winning the Norm Smith Medal. I was also without a Brownlow despite coming agonisingly close. My ability begins to drop from this point onwards.

I win my second premiership and Norm Smith Medal a year later at the age of 28. In Round 10, at the age of 29, in my 13th season, I win my 100th BOG after 279 games. I kick 147 goals for the season and collect yet another Norm Smith Medal despite losing the Grand Final by two points.

In Round 6 of my 14th season, at 30 years of age I played my 300th game. Then at 31, my ability dropped terribly. I still managed to kick 123 goals, and win another best and fairest, the 13th of my career, all at Collingwood. I could tell by the Age of 32, my career was over, but I still had an extra year on my contract, and could have been mean and taken one of the 5 year contracts at another club, but chose not too.

LOL, there's a bug where if you poll two votes you win the Brownlow by two votes. :D

I went through a whole career once, getting 27 votes and losing by 1 vote, till I turned 37 while at the Dogs, where I won the Brownlow with two votes, and 7 goals for the year from full forward.:p

That happens.

How did you last till 37 Tarks? At 30 my skills drop dramatically.
Accepted a deal that had me playting til 32, started saving my money at the start of that, 28, and put all my cash towards raising my skill in that final year, then keeping myself going with a five year contract.

I am so annoyed can't finish game it has to many bugs does anyone know where I can dowload a good version of the game. Like sometimes it doesnt save and if it does it only has game I can save on it. GRRRRR  so angry about it I really want to finish it but it just won't work for me HELP!!!

Round 2

Yarraville Dragons (2nd) vs Gisborne Demons (13th)

Nathan Harding - Match Focus

Quarter 1: Playing in the forward pocket, Harding played off his opponent and kicked 1.1 from some beautiful play. Also chipped in two other touches for the quarter, for an output the coach rated at 60%.

Quarter 2: Harding continued to push his burly opponent, as Yarraville snatched the lead and took a 1 point buffer into the change rooms. With 6 disposals and 1.2 up to halftime, Harding's coach is expecting a big improvement. Harding needs to kick one or two goals in the next quarter to add some respectability to a lacklustre performance. His coach rates him as being at 42% of his optimum.

Quarter 3: A new opponent seemed to frustrate the young Queenslander and his output mirrored the previous quarter. Ending the quarter at 1.3 and 8 touches, he berated himself on missed opportunities. An output of 38% for the game seemed to be a fair assessment of his efforts.

Quarter 4: Yarraville booted clear in the final minutes, Harding contributing another goal and 2 more touches to his tally. Rated as a 43% output for the match, his skills need to improve before next week.

Scoreboard

Yar - 2.2 - 6.4 - 9.5 - 12.7.79
Gis - 3.1 - 6.3 - 7.7 - 9.7.61

Round 3

Yarraville Dragons (1st) vs Berwick Bears (9th)

Nathan Harding - Match Focus

Quarter 1: In difficult conditions, Harding made the most of his few opportunities by contributing two great kicks and a goal for the quarter. Despite not earning the ball in droves, the coach noted that Harding's focus on kicking skills throughout the week had improved the skills immeasurably and gave him a 60% rating for his effort thus far.

Quarter 2: Yarraville continued their early ascendancy on home turf and Harding gathered the ball with increasing vigour, disposing of it with incredible accuracy. Ending the quarter with 2.0 and 5 other possessions, it had to be noted that the youngsters ball-earning ability was also on the up. 62% of what he is capable of.

Quarter 3: Looked as if Nathan was going to run out a very solid performance for his club today, as he contributed his third goal for the day and kept his output at a similar level to the first two quarters. 3.0 and 7 other possessions equalled a 61% effort.

Quarter 4: Confusion raged at the local ground as Harding kicked his fourth goal during the final quarter yet the scoreboard displayed no difference between the third and fourth quarter scorelines. Nevertheless, Harding finished with 9 touches plus 4.0, and a 54% work ethic for the match.

Scoreboard

Yar - 4.1 - 10.9 - 11.10 - 11.10. 76
Ber - 4.3 - 6.5 - 9.8 - 10.8.68

Round 4

Rosebud Mayblooms (11th) vs Yarraville Dragons (1st)

Nathan Harding - Match Focus

Quarter 1: Harding's Saturday afternoon out started as he would like to forget, with only 1 solitary touch coming from a free for a push as his opponent dominated. An effort ranking at about 8% was probably a fair mark from the coach.

Quarter 2: The physical slog did not improve for Harding or the Dragons as the Mayblooms exherted dominance with ease. Smashed around the ground, Harding's coach was not impressed with a 2 touch effort to half time, and ranked him worst on the ground in effectiveness, with an output of 6%.

Quarter 3: Scoring mistakes appeared rife in the competition as Harding contributed his first goal of the match yet his team only added three points to the meagre half time score, causing more confusion and league officials to face the chop. On Harding's day, he doubled his possesion tally of the first half and added a sweet goal. Ranks at 24% still.

Quarter 4: Kicking two of his side's four (note; scoreline only says three) goals was never going to be enough. An output of 32%, stats mirroring his third quarter and a devestating loss to a struggling team would see his ears burning during the week at training. 6 possesions and 2 goals for the champ turned chump.

Scoreboard

Ros - 1.2 - 4.7 - 4.8 - 8.10.58
Yar - 1.1 - 2.3 - 2.6 - 3.9.27

From what I'd heard, this kid looked like becoming the next football champion.

Load of shit posted on this board. I watched his game over the internet last week.

He has absolutely nothing, nothing that will make him a bona fide star.

Weak as a dog, did nothing to lift his team and looked completely lost.

The ****heads who herladed him as being a prime draft choice in three or four years should get their head checked.

He sucked ****ing balls.

After reading this trash posted on a favourite football site, Bigfooty, Harding immediately finds himself doubting himself and therefore cannot concentrate fully on training. He was so sidetracked that he actually lost some of his skill, though according to the Bigfooty idiot, he didn't have any to begin with.
