There's been some speculation that he might be surplus to requirements and could be put on the trade table.

I'm just curious to see what opposition supporters' opinions are of him:
- would you want him?
- what would you potentially give up for him?

Bearing in mind he is still only 22 and has played 92 games (albeit for a rabble in 2/3 of those games).

I'd like to keep Jonesy.. hard nosed mid that constantly puts his body on the line.. can't believe he is already close to 100 games..

I would also prefer to keep Jonesy but if we got a great offer I'd look at it for sure.

I reckon Essendon might be after someone like Jones - hard at it inside mid who could help out Jobe in the guts.

puts his body on the line. ie rd 22. keep him.

get rid of newton!

I like Jones as a player however Adelaide has enough inside mids, we need outside mids

IMO Melb should keep him however he would be suited to a club like Essendon to support Jobe in the clearances

I'd take him but I wouldn't give up much for him.

Depends what you wanted from our list. Most would be off limits for Jones though.

Id be very happy if we can unload Jones, cant see him getting a game in our side in 2 years time.

Wouldn't touch Brock. We swindled Carlton in that deal.

I'd consider Myers.

Which other teams are in need of an inside mid?
Brisbane need just about everything, but I can't see them giving up much that we'd want.
Maybe GC17 would be the best bet, they could do with an extra mature body in the middle.

Not liked very much down at Melbourne very cocky and arrogant and doesnt really fit in

I think this could be the main reason

This "information" goes against everything I've heard against him.

Tomato or barbeque?

We wouldn't look to trade him. People forget that he's still only young and is actually improving. His kicking has gone up, his work rate has gone up and his defensive side as improved. I don't like him playing as a tagger though. Brent Harvey got away from him with ease on Sunday.

Is it opposite day? Very popular kid.

And he is going nowhere.

Might be popular with the fans but very hard to get along with at the club

Just saying what i know he probally wont be traded but he isnt very popular down at Melbourne all clubs have them MFC supporters so no need to get upset

He seems to have a lot of very good attributes for a hard nut footballer, and chrome dome aside, really reminds me of Chappy in his physique and his playing style.

He does though always seem to try to do too much and hangs on to the ball a bit too long. It wouldn't surprise me if he does think a bit much of himself (speculation only).

I think that if a coach or coaches could slap him around a bit and force him to play a role and be a bit more team orientated he would be a very good get.

GC would be looking at him for sure.

I would do the Carlilse for Jones trade. Although Carlilseis a talent we have wayy to many talls. Hurley Pears Fletcher Slattery etc down back
Gumbelton Neagle Darcy Daniher, Carlilse, Still, then you can include Williams and the other Daniher Joe seeings he has pretty much agreed to join essendon when his eligible.

We need more hard at it midfielders, Jones fits the bill

Chunk would be as popular as anyone at the club. He's a top kid.

Stop spouting crap.

Jonah is certainly a tough nut for us in midfield. Strong tackler, wins a lot of contested ball, and he's been a pretty consistent performer this year - in fact, I reckon he's had just about his best season yet.

And anyone who can kick a goal from 65 metres with a waterlogged ball has got a helluva boot on him, that's for sure.

Absolutely no basis for those negative assertions about his popularity at the club either.

Certainly don't think he'll be going anywhere...

10 years ago he would've been a very, very handy player. At the moment he is definitely not worth more than a 3rd rounder.
Cant kick, makes stupid decisions and tries to take on more than he can handle.

Pass.

Ok mate only going on what someone told me from the club

So they must be talking shit then

Because it sounds like you know all

Cant kick

A guy who can goal from 65 out with a wet ball is someone you think "can't kick"?

Perhaps your standards are just a wee bit unrealistic here...

I've seen Travis Cloke kick goals from the centre square. Being a good kick is about consistency
