This portfolio is a companion piece to the SCFL of 2024. It follows existing SCFL clubs attaining licences to operate cricket teams, with added teams to complete the cricket league. Welcome to the National Cricket Association Season Guide and Information Booklet. The True Australian Cricket League.

The SCFL Commission called an EGM to discuss the idea of a truly national cricket league. The proposal would allow all current SCFL teams to purchase a licence to operate a cricket franchise, as well. This would bring the league club’s involvement to 3 (Australian Football (men’s and women’s), Netball and now Cricket (men’s and women’s). At the EGM, the SCFL Commission decided it was in the best interests of the game to form the National Cricket Association. The NCA would have its own commission structure but operate out of SCFL House now known as Recreation House. The current league teams can either operate their own cricket team under the auspices of their own identity, create a new identity for the cricket team or partner with and/or transfer their licence to another entity. The Commission also agreed to put forward a further 12 licences increasing the NCA to 36 teams. The league will consist of T20 games under the same format as the SCFL with 2 conferences of 18 teams. The McIntyre Finals System will be used with a final 8 teams playing from each conference. The winners of the Commonwealth and Federation Conferences will then play off in a 3 game Championship Series. A mid-season All-Star game between the two conferences would be slated for New Years Eve.

Each team will play in their designated conference. Each conference will have 2 divisions of 9 teams each. Each divisional team will play each other twice and once from the other division in the conference. Each team has a traditional rival which they will play home and away regardless of the which conference they play in. The total H&A season games for each team will be 27.

Port decided the best brand for their cricket team was heritage and history. The traditional Black and White with a hint of Teal has been a winner in the past, so the Argonauts loved the idea of continuing the theme. Training at Alberton, Port will also play the blockbusters at AO.

Another new franchise, the Scimitars feel Newcastle have been somewhat left out of the national competition discussion. With a Red, Blue and Gold playing strip that already feels Newcastle, the No. 1 Sportsground will be pumping for the Scimitars first year.
