NBL sucks

I think it is the NBA that sucks. Sure the standard is far better but apart from that its a joke for these reasons:
-the trading. As soon as you get to like a player they are off to the next club. The players have no loyalty at all and are mainly greedy pricks. It sickens me that not even superstars like Jordan, Olajuwon, Ewing and Pippen stay at the one team.
-the games. I think 82 games is to much. Who cares if you lose a game, you've got 81 games to make up for it
-the players. The players generally seem like ********s. The amount of illegitimate children these manwhores have is ridiculous (I'm looking at you Shawn Kemp)
-the refeereing. I don't give a **** if it's an awesome dunk you still pay the travel in my books (looking at you again Kempy)

While the NBL can not compete for standard the players are more loyal, play a rougher brand of basketball and do not play every 3 minutes. And unlike the NBA the NBL is an open field, with everyone in with a show. Lets be honest we all know the Lakers will win the title this year, we all knew the Bulls would win it every year. We don't know who will win the BL title this year do we. It could be any of the Hawks, Tigers, Kings, Titans and 36'ers.

cut the crap with that loyalty sh1t..

the 82 game regular season has been in place since 1967-68... why change it? if they cut the season, you'll prob be complaining the players are wusses now, and cant keep up with a gruelling 82 game season... i thought 1 game a week would be physically demanding (eg. nbl... but, f*ck, 82 games?!?!?! thats sometimes 5, 4, 3 games a week !!)

sure.. the league is fully of recreational drug users, wife-beaters, thugs, felons, cross-dressers, police imitators.... who gives a toss ! i'm watching basketball the game, not days of our lives..

there's always gripes about refereeing... star players getting better treatment from officials... not only limited to basketball.. have u ever heard of officiating complaints in afl ?? :P

nbl has a rougher brand of b-ball?? rougher = dirtier? less finesse? roughness has been pretty much stamped out in the nba.. hand checking rules.. the league isnt as rough as it was (more finesse/athletic/running & jumping types)... but i'd like to see who u rate as the most physical in the nbl up against monsters like shaq, karl malone, charles oakley, k-mart, anthony mason etc.. even tough as nails guards like finley & j.kidd could bowl over most nbl players...

despite the minor cons, i still LOVE the nba !
huge fan of the local game as well, as i get to go watch my beloved kings live at the superdome... ~~

Get off it.....the NBL sucks compared to the NBA. You have to wait all week for 1 game. There no real dunks outside of Jason Smith and its nowhere near as exciting. The trading is good, the league doesnt get stagnant and boring and to crucify such great players like Ewing, Olajuwon and Pippen who put in well over 10 years of great service for the Knicks, Rockets and Bulls respectfully. Then your dig on Jordan who played his entire career with Chicago until his most recent comeback when it is impossible to go back to the Bulls after his differences with Krause and Reinsdorf.

The NBL rougher??? LOL Kidd could muscle Rogers and Bradtke out of the way for a rebound. I love the NBL but it has absolutely nothing on the NBA.

The NBA may be more exciting but I love the NBL for the simple fact that Adelaide are MY team, I'm from the City of Churches and I identify with the team and players. I feel a passion for the Sixers that I have never felt for any NBA team. And I love watching MY team play!! Well that's my feelings anyway. :)

See mate, Jod doesn't understand that.
He "supports" the Wildcats yet has never been to a game (well if he has it was back when JC was a star) so he wouldn't understand the feeling you get from supporting your home town team.

I love the way you just make brash statements Phats to try to make other people look bad when you have no real facts to back it up. I was a season ticket holder from 85 to about 94 but then i became a teenager and things like partying and getting hammered with friends sort of took over. I still see a few games every season though so stop with your bull****.

Have you seen me disappear now that the Wildcats are going bad? NO because there my team, im a born and bred Perth boy and ill be a Cats fan till the day i die. So dont tell me i dont understand it...

Hell I live in the middle of Australia and support the 36ers and I've been to see 3 of their games! I cannot express the atmosphere in one of the best games of NBL when the 36ers clawed back in the playoffs a few years against Wollongong, missing the game tying three with 10 seconds left but gaining the rebound and hitting the trey to tie the game with 3 seconds left, only to have CJ sprint full court for a missed last ditch effort. After dominating the overtime period, we were up but what I thought was enough, only to have the Hawks get within one and have the final shot of the game which they missed.

That, being my first NBL game, will stick with me forever, the atmosphere was electric. In the end I guess its all about the passion for the game, and everytime I get to Adelaide I try make sure I can see a sixers game.

Ruuuuuuupert Sapwell!! :D

That was a sensational game, I missed it myself (damn!!) but I remember watching the replay on tv and you could hear the Powerhouse rocking. I thought we were gone, we didn't play well that night and with Roo taking the final shot I wasn't too confident.....but we just found a way to win.

What a great game for you to watch first up!! Conversely, I was a youngster when I saw my first Sixers game, with Davis, McKay, Kubank and Butch Hays as our stars. If I recall I think we lost by 15. :( I think you had the better luck :)

Well I consider the NBA and NBL to be second rate compared to the WNBL. And it has nothing to do with the women in tight body suits... Well maybe not nothing, but with how they play the game. It's tough, it's aggressive, its fast, and it's played in the spirit the game is meant to be played in. Also some of the Capitals players are soooooo hot, especially Abs, Jac, Vealy and Bez.

Was JC a star back in 1994?

Ant
After seeing that game, my fiance and I literally had goosebumps for the next hour, the place was like one huge sub woofer, vibrating and banging. Its a shame you missed it because the game wasnt actually fully sold out either! We lined up for hours trying to get tickets to the grand final, but sold out as we reached the damn door! :(

Yeah, whats your point. Ive been to alot of games since 94.

Aren't you the man who admitted to never seeing a certain Wildcat play? The same Wildcat that has been in the league for 4 years?

Or will you tell me that you just happened to go to all the games that he didn't play?

Personally I prefer to watch NBA, it just seems more exciting, the crowds are bigger, the atmosphere is better and the players are a lot more talented.

I mean Gaze is one of the best players in australia, he goes overseas and when he did he got 2 minutes a game!

Cheers

Not quite right, Drewy was a STAR in Greece, he was da man, he was also a star at Seton Hall, but as we all know, an NBA career depends as much on opportunity as it does on talent.

Drewy's had three NBA opportunities, the first when he was starting his rise, he was the last player cut from the SuperSonics roster.
His other two opportunities came after the age of 30.

His time at the Bullets was a joke, the franchise was a joke, he never got an in.

his last opportunity came with the Spurs, when he was well past his best yet he managed to stay on the roster and earn himself an NBA Championship ring.

Nothing at all to be ashamed about.

LMAO! Earned himself a championship ring. Even he would tell you he got one because of Duncan and Robinson. Gaze is a great player but it just goes to show how far the two leagues are apart. Gaze is the greatest player to ever play in the NBL yet cant get 2 mins a game in the NBA.

Look at it another way. Imagine Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, Shaq or even funnier MICHAEL JORDAN playing in the NBL. It would be hilarious. Hell put MJ on the Wildcats and surround him with Mottram, Black, Olowoyo and Thompson and the Cats would win the title.
