Location sensitive stickers and beacons.

Mobile devs at my workplace are starting to work with them.. i.e asset tracking etc.

Grumpy old man time but I think we are being sold a pup. Its slanted to ''help us'' but its about tracking us ( in a purchasing world) and sending adverts etc to our phone. Using a sticker to wake us up? Please just use your alarm. Think for yourself. Walk past a shop where you slowed to look into a window and suddenly a text appears with ''specials'' - push marketing.

Sure put them on shoes to see if people pick them up- because for sure as shit your sales staff will be too busy texting or checking Facebook to you know serve customers. ( I do see practical applications in goods monitoring)

I worry that we are allowing decisions and thinking to be ''sent offshore'' so we have more time for random interaction with strangers on the internet. ( I was going to do something but I really needed to post my thoughts, now what was I going to do?? )

You'd have to agree to accept the tracking first though. It can't push details to your device without you allowing it.

So many other non powered nearables around.
RFID tags, Rcodes etc.
The problem is, being compatible with everybody.
Get this app that app. Most people havnt heard of an RCODE let alone use one.
For most of us we type in the URL before the app is opened.
In this case the systems are using biometrics as a UID attached to credit card purchases
Who needs beacons when you have eyeballs.
