He is a fool not to have an "out" clause in his contract to pursue a senior coaching job. Most assistants have such clause, and some senior coaches even have an "out" clause to pursue an assistant coaching job elsewhere, in the event of burn out....

err this wasnt for the senior coaching job, it was for an assistant job like he has a contract for at Collingwood.

The lacklustre finals campaign, strange selections by the match committee and bizarre game plans (or players not following game plans) sure do indicate that some of the coaches weren't 100% dedicated to their coaching duties
Approaching coaches out of season (I think) is understood to be fair game

For something to be hypocritical, the circumstances need to be similar.
In other words are you suggesting Geelong tried to poach Malthouse and Neeld during the 2010 season, most significantly leading up to the finals?
For any Collingwood supporter, I'd steer clear of words with 5 syllables

Not sure about the hyprocisy but I can see the irony. Neeld was turned down in his application to become an assistant coach at Geelong a few years back.
