I returned from a trip around Australia in January, where I had the pleasure to spend a few weeks with my girlfriend’s cousins who live in Gawler. During my time there I was introduced to the weird and wonderful world of Australian Rules football.

After some initial resistance (to be fair all most pomms know about the game is signal for a goal!), I really got into it.

I have got into the game so much, I have started taping the weekly (admittedly cr***y) afl (no SANFL in England) highlights.

Then it came down to which team to support. This is when I learnt about the “differences” between vfl/afl and sanfl. I know the politics can be a pain, but look at it this way - its a sign that a game has history if such rivalry exists! Being from a soccer background I know all about local, erm “passions”...........

So……………. (pinning my colours to the mast), I have decided to barrack for the Crows in the AFL and Centrals in the SANFL (well the family are from Gawler). So there.

Seems I have cursed the Crows this years, so lets hope the chimney stays red white & blue, eh!

Finally...4 Things I'd Like To Do I die...

Go back to Adelaide in winter and see a live footy game
Get Permanent Residence to Australia (LET ME IN!!!)
See Bristol City in the Premiership. Not very likely though.
See England get back the Ashes.

well as the ashes never actually leave Lords I suppose we have never lost them in the first place.......:p

Depressing thing is my cricket brain kicked in in 1989, when you beat us 3 or 4-0 at home.

So I cant remember us ever beating you. Which is nice for you Im sure!

Still - reckon we are in with a shout next year. At the very worst things will be competitive (makes a change!)
