sorry.....so excited, noone around. Had to share it with someone!

Congratulations on your new car... I wouldn't have gone for black but that's a personally choice, they still look cool.

oooh lucky! i wanted an astra but couldnt afford one! it was going to cost like almost $30,000 or something :S
maybe more cant remember

but i got a lancer instead for $21,000

Nice work carly... owning a brand new car is always exciting.

I can assure you though, being black, the car will always look dirty, and should you get even the slightest nick or scratch on it, you will always notice it!!

I did not believe this until I bought a dark coloured car myself, now I can't wait to respray it a meticallic silver or white.

Black cars look fantastic when clean, and crappy when dirty. I'd suggest that every few days you give it a very quick spray of water and wipe down with a chamois. That should keep it looking fine, along with a proper wash every couple of weeks. Also remember to wash the wheels and tyres, and perhaps buy some armoral to blacken the wheels, as dirty wheels can make the car look crappy too.

Can't beat white for looking fresh. My last new car was red though, purely because they go faster.

Thanks Guys!
Yeah I know black is a hard colour with a car but my car at the moment is black and Im used to it so it shouldnt be too much hard work!

Well if you're used to it it's not such a big deal. I got a silver Astra and it hasn't been washed in like 2 months:o, really bad I know, and it still looks pretty clean.

But that's the difference with a silver car...

:D It's true.

Have you noticed though that birds seem to 'prefer' red cars as well?

I firmly believe that the Canadian goose migratory pattern is based principally upon where I park my car.

Congrats Carly & don't listen to some of these people, black cars are great I love them, mind you I prefer red, only because as Fred said, they go faster. :D

Black cars look great with a red stripe painted down the sides. :p

Thanks Mantis. I think everyone will admit that black cars look great but its just harder to keep them clean thats all.
:D:D:D

Gotta love the silver cars. I've had mine for 18 months and it hasn't been washed in that time, but you can't tell!

Not as much as with a white car, I can tell you that much.

We've had our new car (a Daewoo Nubira) for about a year now, and if we don't get it washed every couple of weeks or once a month, tops, it looks really bad.

I'd rather have a buildup of dirt and mud on a dark car than on a light-coloured vehicle.

Congrats on the new car, Carly. May you have thousands of kilometres of enjoyment out of it. :)

Congrats on your car Carly, you don't have any idea how much I envy you.

My old man is willing to chip in to help me buy a car, but he wants to get me a hatchback (something about not wanting me in a high powered car. pfft, I'm invincible...), but its a WOMENS CAR!!! Either I drive a womens car, or don't drive at all. Buggered if i do, buggered if i don't :(
