Fantastic appointment. Hats off to all. Let's hope we continue our onward and upward projection and keep gapping the rest.
Exciting times ahead!!

As previously hinted Brett Connoll has been appointed CEO by the VAFA, lets hope he moves the comp forward from the staleness it is now in.
What is so stale about the VAFA? To me, (other than the clunky website), it seems to be evolving with the times and working pretty well? Wonder whether one's club performance can jaundice one's view of the overall competition?

All the best to the new CEO, but I disagree with your assessment of the comp. Women's league, night games, etc. all point to a comp that is growing and evolving with the times. Without too much knowledge of other comps, I believe the VAFA is tracking better than most?

It wont be hard to erase Scholley's successes from our minds as there weren't any..............

Never gonna be popular was Sholly. Reminds me a bit of John Howard and Andrew Dimetriou...90% of people would say they were terrible. But 90% of people never had it better when they were leading. Just never added up.
90 tall poppies plus 90 tall poppies doesn't equal 100??

What about last year when he got the Uni Blues v Old Xavs game shifted? That was awesome.

Under instructions from the Catholics..........Truth be known games should have been moved from Uni many times earlier
......but "nyet". Just sat on their hands............

90% would say you spend too much time with twaddle.

however, you know they have never had it so good.:p

hasn't demetriou done well since going private?

sholly was a school teacher thrust into a role he was not equipped for.

We are getting off topic here but : Howard did a very good job. Ross Oakley did all the heavy lifting for the AFL...set it up
for the likes Demetriou. Anyone could have sold TV rights, Oakley got them into a saleable position. That was the trick.

Even Sholly's touted successes were abject failures. His rushed implementation of the Thirds has resulted in the disjointed, equitable and shambolic 3rds competition we have today. His rushed implementation of the U18s saw that fall over completely within a few years. Anyone with a passing interest in the unders will understand that the age cut off has become so confusing and convoluted that no one knows if it is an U19, U19.5 or U20 competition. Some clubs have had the benefit of ‘special’ secretive deals in regard to overage players while other clubs have not.

He missed a golden opportunity to move HQ down the road to Moorabbin and realise the benefit of generous State Government and AFL handouts and it was not until rivers of raw sewerage were (twice) running through the visitors change rooms at that wind swept ship hole EP that he finally relented and moved the Premier GF. Not to mention the repeated failure of first the stand alone and then the Saturday Premier GF’s.

The obscene culture of fining clubs and their unpaid volunteers while his own paid work force was performing miserably. And his on-going promotion of the largely unwanted, unnecessary costly and (with the exception of a very few) vastly unpopular junket to Ireland. I could go on….

The rapid rise of the women’s comp has been a plus but Shona McInnes and the clubs themselves have done most of the heavy lifting there.

Welcome Brett Connell.

Are you inferring that I said that because of my club. If you are, you are wrong. I think Rooster summed it up.

I don't think anyone would dispute that I spend too much time with twaddle. Other than perhaps Chazz. He always has my back!

Welcome Brett Connell.

I note the Premier thirds ladder top four currently reads St Kevin's, Old Xavs, St Kevin's, Old Xavs.

Welcome Brett, it's all up from here.

Have you seen the tragics interview this week with Sholly? They go through his top 5 initiatives which I thought would fill you with joy!
