Hey everyone,

Seriously looking at upgrading my existin entertainment system (For a reasonable price) but not 100% on what I should be making as a priority. Specifically, I don't want to get caught out buying old technology.

Here's where I'm at;

What I intend to keep;
Monitor (No Tuner) - Samsung 50" 1080p Plasma.
Foxtel - Non HD :mad:
X-box 360

What I want to update;
HD set top box (DGTEC brand)
Sony DVD player (Pretty basic)
Yamaha 5.1 Amp with surround speakers. Component in and out (No HDMI)

Seriously considering a Tivo but am I better off with a top end PVR with dual tuners? I'd really like to go minimalistic and have as little euipment and remotes as possible. Any suggestions as to how to best package this all up?

I'm looking to install a network storage device on my home wireless network so I can store all my downloads and recorded TV, movies, games etc.

Anyone got any advice or done a similar thing recently???

Any products you'd recommend?

Cheers.

done something pretty similar, dont have a dvd player anymore, but i have my computer networked to the xbox 360, and run a program called TVersity to stream movies/tv shows etc from the PC to the xbox.

runs fine if your not real pick in regards to video/audio quality (audio not really a problem, video can be a tad flaky sometimes)

1. DVD -- If your X-360 is a newer build and has HDMI, then use that as your DVD player. Otherwise get a new player that has HDMI or get a BD player in its place.

2. HD-tuners -- Any new box would be fine, a PVR would probably be good too. I hear some good things about Beyonwiz gear... I think they allow for PC transfers.

3. Theatre -- If you're completely replacing the theatre system, maybe a Sony Muteki system would be the go. The new one with two subbies would do, it also pumps out LPCM sound from BD players.

4. PC linking -- maybe an Apple TV unit or one of those Western Digital media boxes, perhaps.
