Out of all our losses this year this could be our biggest, completely changed our fortunes on the injury front since he took over, and even tho we didn’t win many games the boys seemed to be in games for longer in 2025. Would have loved to seen how they went with another preseason under him.

May not be completely fixed by 2026 but by 2027 I’m sure you’ll notice some significant changes in fitness and injuries.

I know he doesn't officially start until the week before the players come back but I hope he's on the blower with our injury prone disgruntled folk to see what there is to be done for them, if anything. I rather think his insight would be valuable to any list management decisions in the next couple of weeks.

Tendency to break down at key moments though, so a perfect fit for us.

Doesn’t tend to be a new ball wicket at the G from April until September though, bit of a graveyard for the quicks.

Is this position new? I don't think the previous turkey had 'head of performance AND medical' in his title

The previous turkey wasn't head of medical no. And notably, this new bloke isn't a medical doctor, he's a PhD with a bunch of other degrees as well. So ultimately the doc would be answering to him... insofar as a doctor answers to anyone in an administrative position.

Including medical in his role is pretty interesting. Wonder if the club could see some issues between previous S&C and medical staff not being on the same page?

I was just googling a bit and I don't think we've had a head of medical services since Dave Rundle was appointed to it in 2019 and then left the role for family reasons in 2020. Perhaps they chose not to replace him because of covid cuts?

That structure makes sense, I don't really recall references to our medical department at all or even a club doctor since the halcyon days of Bruce Reid telling them to 'get ****ed'.
