Heres a link to listen to the 1st single to be released from Paul's soon to be released album "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard"...

(click on listen to the new song)

found some info from a radio site on the album itself, sounds great........

Produced by Paul McCartney and Nigel Godrich
Recorded at Ocean Way/LA, Abbey Road/London
and The Mill/Sussex.
Orchestrations by Nigel Godrich
Release date: September 13th, 2005
Track listing:

1 - “Fine Line” (3:02) - The first single. Great uptempo piano-based track. Lyrics include ‘C’mon brother...all is forgiven..’

2 - “How Kind Of You” (4:46) - Slow, dreamy track with pretty chords and instrumental passes. Ending is a bit Radiohead-like.

3 - “Jenny Wren” (3:46) - Classic Macca acoustic guitar and vocal track. Interesting sound in solo - perhaps a japanese-style guitar.

4 - “At The Mercy” (2:37) - Nice track with strings and some very nice diminished chords. Almost a 10cc-ish chord progression in spots. Some lyrics include ‘at the mercy of a busy day, we can think of nothing more to say.’

5 - “Friends To Go” (2:43) - Song starts off sparse and builds throughout. Great Macca piano work. Lyrics include ‘I’ll be waiting on the other side for your friends to go.’

6 - “English Tea” (2:11) - Awesome track that would not sound out of place on ‘Revolver.’ A string quartet starts the song off. Lyrics include ‘miles and miles of english garden’, ‘lines of hollyhocks and roses’ and, ‘every Sunday morning.’

7 - “Too Much Rain” (3:24) - Another standout track. Lots of acoustic guitar and piano. Nice accent on the title phrase, and nice 7th chords on title.

8 - “A Certain Sadness” (2:45) - Interesting song, sort of a musical departure for Paul. Almost latin/cha-cha in beat. Pretty piano and guitar licks.

9 - “Riding to Vanity Fair” (5:06) - This is a song directly and angrily pointed at Heather, written after her not so Paul-friendly interview in VANITY FAIR. Direct and to the point. Lyrics like ‘you put me down’ and ‘now that you don’t need my help, I’ll take the time to think about myself’. Ouch!

10- “Follow Me” (2:31) - Great track that was premiered at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004. Solo version is arranged much like live band version, maybe a wee bit slower.

11- “Promise To You Girl” (3:09) - Brilliant track, very much in the ‘Flaming Pie’ vein, right down to the piano. Again, some 10cc-sounding harmonies.

12- “This Never Happened Before” (3:24) - Textbook McCartney ballad, with a soft drum machine backing and gorgeous melody. This may appear in a movie in the not too distant future. Some lyrics include ‘I’m very sure this never happened before.’

13- “Anyway” (3:49) - Beautiful melody with sweeping harmonies. After the track ends, there is about :30 silence, then...the hidden track appears...

HIDDEN TRACK - “I’ve Only Got Two Hands” (3:00) - A fascinating instrumental that really highlights Paul’s fine piano work. The song completely changes tempo and melody about 1:00 in, then changes again towards the end to some backwards ‘Strawberry Fields”-like sounds.

It is interesting to note that the Rolling Stones first studio album since 1997 is being released one week before Paul's album. It is tipped that the album will do good things in the US charts even though Paul has accepted that he is no longer in singles hit making game anymore but you can count on effortless melodies, musicianship, great vocals and a more mature angle with his songwriting. He is following no trends, they come and go, Paul will continue to churn out good albums for many years to come and it is only his beatles legacy that prevents them getting the justice the music itself deserves. If you see this album in te future, do yourself a favour.

EMI Australia have confirmed the albums up coming release including promotion in this country September, I hope it gets airplay as the stuff is great

if Jesse had enough talent to top the most middle of the road song on one of Paul's sub-par albums he would be doing better than most of his contemporaries. Jesse is a new sensation, Paul is a rock legend, I just don't find the joke funny

Thanks for posting that track description bit!! Sounds interesting, I'll probably grab it when it comes out. Been listening to my Paul McCartney albums a fair bit recently, some quality stuff on each one.

Of course I do!! I have perhaps 10 or 11 of his solo albums and heard most of the others......I don't have my CDs with me (they're in Qld) so I can't count them all!! I also have a couple of compliations like All The Best and Wingspan and a couple on cassette.

My favourites are Off The Ground and Flaming Pie, of his 'newer' stuff. Favourite songs.......'Mistress and Maid, Beautiful Night, Young Boy, The World Tonight, The Lovers That Never Were......I never liked Hope Of Deliverance when it came out but it's grown on me!!

His most under-rated efforts were the Russia album, and Run Devil Run. And I'm quite fond of Wings.

i also liked flaming pie and off the ground. run devil run is exhilarating and it really helped "chase his blues away" after the passing of Linda.

did you pick up his last one, driving rain circa 2001? It is a bit too long and has a few less inspired choices but several songs are worthy of mentioning amongst the best he's done on his own. lonely road, from a lover to a friend, heather (his best melody in my mind in years), about you (punchy rocker) and the 12 minute jam Rinse the Raindrops which needs to be heard to be believed.

recent standout performances such as the Superbowl, Headlining 2004 Glastonbury and rocking Live 8 will surely signal to one and all that he is still in fine voice and is fit and raring to go, champing at the bit to rock audiences around the world again and the release of what he calls his "most realised set of songs since Band On The Run" and "feeling like among the best he's done" can't wait for the promotion to start here, first time in a long time and the tour that is going to follow in the future

I do own Driving Rain, it's not a bad album.....my favourite tracks are the first and last. Lonely Road is an awesome tune, badly underrated!! And 'Freedom', I realise it's a 'bonus' track but that is Paul's 'Imagine'. Very powerful little song!!

I do look forward to his latest offering. There's always something on a McCartney album to justify the purchase price!!

If more people heard "rinse the raindrops" from Driving Rain it would change their whole perspective on Paul, no one would imagine in a 1000 years that he would be responsible for such a piece of music, it makes the Prodigy look soft.

Theres also a project available that he oversaw, its called twin freaks where DJ Freelance I think it was made sick mixes, mashes combining several of his songs into one, they all sound interesting and have been played at clubs around the European area, not sure here tho. songs sound great except the live and let die one which repeats "when you were young"

Hey I think if more people heard stuff like 'Spin It On' from way back, they'd be amazed, let alone stuff like 'Rinse The Raindrops'!! But then again you could say the same about half the Beach Boys stuff.

Some people just have it all wrong.

Single is slightly reminiscent of Lady Madonna.

yeah. it is catchy and will grow the listener to a point where repetative playing could get you hooked. this however isnt the best of what the album will offer but is a nice upbeat and fun start. there is alot crammed into the song, the abba-esque intro, maccas upbeat piano, violin bursts, tension build up, classic vocal break, and his falsetto closing out the song.
the lyrics are simple yet interpretive.

a potential 2nd single is described as more beatlesque.

did anyone see his performance of HELTER SKELTER on Live 8?
he did Drive My Car with George Michael, Sgt Pepper with U2, Get Back, Long and Winding Road and Hey Jude to end. On his tour each song he performs are of a similar intensity and its like listening to the old records again cant wait for him when he comes over to rock.

The Stones "Rough Justice" sounds great on the radio and I hear it daily on mix 94.5 Perth. Paul's is just as good. Both hark back to their strengths/trademarks. The Stones one has a sound only the Stones can do whilst Maccas has an infectious melody, nice minor chords and upbeat vocals and piano. Both songs are great.
