He didn't really get much of a chance. The other one, O'Reilly, could really play though.

Made his debut with Grimes didn't he? He had a good kick and was quick in his feet too, but never really progressed past anything than a youngster playing the HBF in his handful of games

Looked ok early on, shame he packed it all in...waste of time the Ireland players...plenty more we can snaffle locally

Bit harsh, if we had of developed one of them to the quality of Pierce Hanley we'd be patting each other on the backs. Plenty can come good with the right development

This. I think in future, any speculative rookie picks will have more chance of making it. They will have a better environment to learn and develop in, especially with our standalone VFL side next year (allowing better coaching and development). Further to that, the side is more settled now so any player who comes in will have more experience and support around them (imagine being a rookie coming into our backline now being surrounded by Rance, Newman, Chaplin, Houli and Morris compared to a few years ago when you'd have 4-5 guys around you with maybe 50 games experience between them).
