Hey guys,

Just bought a netgear dg834g modem router because I wanna be able to use my laptop around the house and also use wifi on my iphone at home to save data. I connected the router correctly to my laptop and tried the setup wizard using the installation cd but it said that it couldn't detect the router so I ended up doing it all manually in my browser.

The problems I've got now are that I can connect to the internet when my laptop's plugged into the router with the ethernet cable but I can't connect using wireless. My iphone also also detects the wifi but can't connect to it using the password.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? The security level is WPA-PSK if that's any help. Is it something to do with that pppoa stuff?

It tries to connect after I put in the password and then it comes up with "Windows cannot connect". I click on "Diagnose the problem" and it comes up with "The wireless encryption keys on this computer do not match the settings on this network".

I then get a prompt with,
"View the wireless security settings on this computer to verify they are compatible with this network. If you set up or own this network, you might be able to fix the problem by changing the settings on the wireless router or access point to be compatible with the settings on this computer".

I click on it and this comes up.

Then I click OK on that and I get this.

On my iphone it simply says "Unable to join the network".

Try changing the security level to a different WPA and also change it to your own password.

Then try using the iphone. I don't like that error message windows is giving you.

I reset the router and did the entire installation again. Got my iphone to connect but not the laptop. So I went through the router login setup for the third time and for some reason it's all working now. I'm on my laptop using wifi and the iphone is all good too.

Thanks for reading. No idea what was wrong.

/end thread.
