I know a lot of people enjoy playing the NHL games. I'm certainly one of them so I'm sure a lot of you will be interested to know the new version is out for PC now.
Played it for a few hours and well....it's ok, not great though and not really a vast improvement over last years version. In fact I'm a bit disappointed in it.

Firstly it's keep trying to dial up their online gaming facility when the games first loading up and as yet I haven't found out how to turn that off.
The layout of the menu's are okish, although once you're in a franchise you can see season leaders, conference standings, last games box score all on one screen. Very handy that.

Game engine is more or less the same one they've been using for a few season now, needs a bit of an overhaul in my opinion.
Also wish they would get rid of trying to use their 'EA trax" for the music and perhaps use real hockey music.

There is one thing that I do actually really love and that's that the arenas are now more distingished. The igloo in Pittsburgh now actually looks like the igloo on the inside, it's a proper dome. Huge improvement from previous years when every arenas roof was the same.

Bit disappointed with this years effort, although will play it, at least until I can get m hands on Sega's NHL 2k3 sometime next month on the Xbox.

aaahhhh...good memories leigh.

used to play NHL on the megadrive, and PS1,started with NHL 95 then got 96,97,99 and 2000.I saw it for the PC the other day,but am not sure if i should wait for it to come out on the PS2 instead. With the problems you are having im glad i waited.Let me know if the online problems fix up

cheers

Jerry, it still trying to phone up over the internet on startup of the game on PC.
The fighting it still ****house, well, its even worse than in previous years in that players heads are kind of tilted back when being held.
I wish they would take a leaf out of this years NHL Hitz fighting which is a hell of a lot better in that you can weave, grab, etc in a much more realistic manner.
I've also played it on Xbox, in my opinion a bit more of a better version than the PC game. Although both don't have the Game story feature which I liked last year.

yes got some of the old NHL games.

I have no real attatchment to any American teams and i became a fan of Pittsburgh because they were the first team i played with in NHL 95 or 96 on the old Sega MegaDrive
