I know a lot of people enjoy playing the NHL games. I'm certainly one of them so I'm sure a lot of you will be interested to know the new version is out for PC now.
Played it for a few hours and well....it's ok, not great though and not really a vast improvement over last years version. In fact I'm a bit disappointed in it.
Firstly it's keep trying to dial up their online gaming facility when the games first loading up and as yet I haven't found out how to turn that off.
The layout of the menu's are okish, although once you're in a franchise you can see season leaders, conference standings, last games box score all on one screen. Very handy that.
Game engine is more or less the same one they've been using for a few season now, needs a bit of an overhaul in my opinion.
Also wish they would get rid of trying to use their 'EA trax" for the music and perhaps use real hockey music.
There is one thing that I do actually really love and that's that the arenas are now more distingished. The igloo in Pittsburgh now actually looks like the igloo on the inside, it's a proper dome. Huge improvement from previous years when every arenas roof was the same.
Bit disappointed with this years effort, although will play it, at least until I can get m hands on Sega's NHL 2k3 sometime next month on the Xbox.
