Well if they were taking 3 for shit arse Zak Merrett, Nick is worth 5 minimumOut of interest, what would Nick be worth in a trade? 10 first rounders?
The whole first round.Out of interest, what would Nick be worth in a trade? 10 first rounders?
I’m definitely not going scorched earth on it like Kappa is prone to, but it makes me wonder how we entered the biggest game of our year having played 1 match in like 28 days with a quarter of our team injured? I mean losing the best player in the league to a PCL during the bye week is a crazy thought.Kappa is going to come in here soon and start talking about how selfish it was for Nick to play the prelim with these injuries, as if there was ever any chance we'd win the game had Daicos not played.
I was a fan of the resting/managing strategy during the year but it seems like we just cost ourselves points for no real tangible benefit in the end.I’m definitely not going scorched earth on it like Kappa is prone to, but it makes me wonder how we entered the biggest game of our year having played 1 match in like 28 days with a quarter of our team injured? Hell to even get as close as we did to a rampaging Brisbane given the comparative health and list strength of both teams is frankly staggering. The SS team has got a lot right under Fly, but they would have reviewed the back end prep hard this off-season.
That’s certainly how it felt in the moment and upon reflection. I doubt it’s as straightforward as choosing a different strategy unlocking the path to glory, but perhaps there’s something to be said for being battle hardened in the build up. I’m obviously spitballing too because I’ve got NFI about this stuff and even if I did how could you know from the outside?I was a fan of the resting/managing strategy during the year but it seems like we just cost ourselves points for no real tangible benefit in the end.
