Lol. Jason Cloke was a pretty good player mate. Him getting suspended and missing the 2002 grand final was a pretty big deal at the time and could have been a factor in the result.

But nah we played him for 76 games and drafted him in 2000 to get his 13 year old brother at the time. Part of our evil calculations.

We also didnt "pick and keep" them. Cameron got the flick.

So we have been able to see Nick coming for years, but couldn’t see Travis. Travis always considers the better Cloke.

After we had Travis. He could have gone to the Tigers. What do you think is old man would of thought if we flicked the brothers before Travis was drafted?

He wouldnt have been happy. Would he have told Trav to sign with Richmond? One will never know. There might be a little bit of merit in your theory given that Trav was the youngest and the best and the unique circumstance of the Clokes being eligible at two clubs. It won us a flag so if we held on to Cam Cloke for a year too many, I'll take that. It was effectively as straight swap for Chris Bryan so not much of an upgade. Jason Cloke had a good career at Collingwood and certainly proved he was worthy of being drafted. 76 games is nothing to s****** at.

What other club is Nick Daicos eligible to be drafted for under the father-son rules?

None but he doesn’t have to agree to come to us. If he is not a supporter and his brother is not at the club he may just go in to the draft. Not likely, but something the club would be thinking, even if only slightly.

And his smartarse comment about Jason being "better the year before when he was out suspended" was disgraceful. MM is not a nice human.

'Was never a MM Fan. Even we he coached us to the Flag

So its nothing like the Cloke situation then.

You are just making stuff up. I dont know why.

I recall playing compulsory inter school football and losing to another team 33.30 to 0.1 points and having 10 goals kicked on me in the back pocket. Not comparable to Nick and his erstwhile opponent Tom, and a bit of stretch replying to a 3 year old post. Blame it on covid and the need to kill time.

I played in the midfield against a young Gilbert McAdam. Just embarrassing. I think he won 95% of all clearances that day. The score line was similar to yours.

So you think Nick more or less inclined to nominate for father son if Josh is traded at the end of the year?

You are putting words in my mouth now. Josh isnt leaving and I struggle to see the connection that makes you think he is.

Will Kelly had no qualms being nominated despite his brother being passed over.

Josh is not leaving. Nick will be coming.

End of story.

But of course Josh can't say.. yeah yeah he will nominate. You can't let everyone know that a year in advance. Let the kid be a kid, he doesn't need that kind of pressure right now. He needs to finish high school this year, do some U18/U19 stuff next year, and deal with the draft later on.

You’re escalating this to ridiculousness. Josh will get the pay rise he deserves, regardless of Nick, because he’s our most improved player and a rising young star. A fair deal will be worked out, and Nick will have absolutely nothing to do with it. Having met Peter quite a few times, I’m sure he would be mortified if his boys tried to hold the club to ransom, and I’m sure they wouldn’t because he wouldn’t have brought them up that way. Don’t compare the Daicos’ to the Clokes. They’re a completely different breed.

No my original post has been escalated to the ridiculous. It was simply a statement about negotiation leverage. Did not say Josh was leaving.

You’re the one that escalated it! Absolutely nobody has suggested that Josh could be anywhere other than Collingwood next year except you. And nobody in their right mind would believe that a 17 year old kid would be trying to play mind games with the club to get his brother a better contract. Keep digging that hole though, I’m sure you’ll make it out eventually...

It wasn’t a 17 year old. It was Josh who mentioned his brother’s non-allegiance to the Pies, not Nick.

I did say in my original post that him leaving was not a major risk. Others have blown watch was meant to be a rather innocuous post about contract leverage in to a post where I almost categorically stated Josh was leaving and Nick would not nominate us.

No they didn’t.

Declining a nomination is very very rare. Marc Murphy did it because he wanted to stay in melbourne and not go to brisbane. But otherwise, it does not happen. We should not be worried.
Plenty of our players supported other teams growing up, does not mean they don't love the club now. It means very little.
