Fair enough. I personally reckon' (from what I have seen of Vlas) that he has a bit more class than those two guys, and will be more useful on the scoreboard. Still early days but Richmond have done well!

Multiple brownlows? Calm down. Not even Ablett has achieved that even if he's deserved to or not.
O'Meara has had a better season overall but only because he's played 4 more games. Since coming in Vlas has impressed equally. Also important to point out O'Meara has an extra AFL preseason over all other draftees as he trained with GC a year earlier.
I've been surprised by Vlastuin. I thought he would be a very good consistent player but now I think he can be a star.
That's just my opinion mate. I don't necessarily subscribe to the best player of the given year winning the brownlow medal, but Jaeger has everything that the modern midfielder needs to get noticed by the umps.
Gaz hasn't won multiple Brownlow medals, but Chris Judd has and I know which player I think will end up having the more distinguished career. Ablett may also win another one as GC continue to improve.
At the end of the day this thread is about which young player would be preferable given a choice. Whilst Jaeger has had one of the best debut seasons thus far in recent memory, Vlastuin has been very impressive too and wouldn't have been compared otherwise.

Yeah his outside work has been more impressive then his inside in my opinion.Fair enough. I personally reckon' (from what I have seen of Vlas) that he has a bit more class than those two guys, and will be more useful on the scoreboard. Still early days but Richmond have done well!
Jaeger looks cleaner though and would take him over Vlastuin every day of the week, except maybe Monday nights

I'd have O'meara ahead of Vlastuin.
I think O'Meara will be an Ablett, Pendlebury, Cotchin type smooth mover. Very tidy skills, very hard to tackle, and can run and run all day. Just a complete package type player and will be a premier midfielder of the competition.
However, I see Vlastuin as more of a versatile X-Factor type player, such as Dangerfield, or Martin. He doesn't have the marking ability of Martin, or the pace of Dangerfield, but he also has more versatility in that he can play inside and outside, or forward, as Dangerfield and Martin can, but can also play half back, which Dangerfield and Martin cannot. I'd expect him to be a more damaging Sam Mitchell in that he will just be a very consistent player every single game he plays, and it is only when you compare his stats to the leading midfielders that he is in the top 10 or so.
Could just be biased though.

I don't think Wines is talentless. I think it is just Nick Vlastuin has been more consistent in his games than Wines has, and that Tigga is more versatile, and has more impact on a game. Wines is an in and under type. Some of his ball extractions in his few games have been mindblowing for a first year player. I think he is going to struggle with consistency throughout the formative years of his career, much like Dustin Martin, who I'd compare Wines to at this stage, although Wines doesn't have Dustin's marking skills.

Pretty much everyone who followed the draft knew about him.
It's not that surprising how good he's playing. Was always one of the more mature (mentally and physically), ready to go players that were available.
I wouldn't really say he "slid" to pick 9 either. I think that was a reasonable spot for him to go.
He's going to be very good, but no one who took guys before him will be unhappy with who they have.

I know Mitchell has been good but he's only played two games, Wines in his first month was incredible but hit the rookie wall pretty much as soon as Port started losing.

Stats, stats, stats. Just watch them play. Example, Wines pathetic effort allowing Vlatuins contested mark and goal. One player was hard and wanted it, one player took the easy option.
And i have yet to hear any commentator (like they have all week with Vlastuin) say it looks as though he is an 80 game player with his skill, composure and tank.
