I was at the Carlton game.
It was an absolute travesty, yes
We played with an ineptness not likened to us since the beginning of this century, yes
BUT...

It was our 5th loss since the Prelim Final of 2008, and sometimes you do get those games when things just don't bounce your way... remember when Geelong got hammered to the tune of 80+ points a few years back, look where they are and what they've done now!

If hack reporters want to sell papers by questioning our premiership credentials, so be it
If people want to rub our noses in our heaviest loss for a number of years, so be it.
If the general public as a whole want to question our ability, so be it

But we know we are still a wickedly talented side, and we still know that we have what it takes to win the flag this year, and we know that we will bounce back, and bounce back bloody well.

To those Sainters whose faith may be waning, it's one game in a season of 22

We ain't done yet.

5th loss but the point is valid

it's unbelievable to see so many people quesioning the very core of the game plan and half the list.

I think panic is definately too strong a word, but I do feel alot of unease due to the last three performances. Go back a month to the Freo game, the first game without Rooey, and we performed extremely well. The structures were sound, we scored heavily and the initial panic felt when Nick went down had been eliviated. But there have been signs the past 3 matches that no saints fan can ignore.

It is only one bad loss, two if you count the loss to Port after their dismal showing at KP, so we can't get too down on the club. However if we don't come out of the next three weeks with preferably three wins and atleast one big, morale boosting win, then panic might be a more appropriate word to describe the feelings.

Definitely seems to be a downward trend in our performances since the Freo game.

We played poorly against Port and lost, admittedly conditions were difficult and it was away from home so was excusable to an extent. We also played pretty poorly against the Dogs but still somehow won the game against the odds when we probably didn't deserve to. I think that win maybe blinded everyone to the problems we were having, mainly scoring from inside 50 entries. Then of course we had that shocker against Carlton and got thrashed.

As bad as the Carlton loss was at least it should make Lyon and the rest of the coaching staff aware of the problems we have been having and maybe force them to make a few changes. It should also shake the playing group out of any complacency they had, as our usual intensity was well down against Carlton. They came to play and we didn't, which is unlike St Kilda teams under Lyon.

It would be pretty stupid to assume that we've gone down the tubes BUT it would be equally as stupid not to recognise that something is seriously wrong with the forward structure. If we are so reliant on Nick that we have no forward structure without him then we really are no good.
