I am very close to upgrading my mobile from my old Ericsson clunker/brick and I am looking at either a Nokia 3310 or Nokia 8210 – I’m leaning toward the latter.

I am seeking some help from you good people. Those of you that have either of these phones can you please give me your rating on your phone. Particularly the 8210 eg. any problems/pitfalls with it and alternatively the positives and whether you would recommend buying it or not.

Thanking you in advance.:)

We have 2 Nokia 8210's in this household. Great little phone. Only problems have been:

Screens went strange (funny characters all over the place) then totally dead on both at the same time and it took over a week to have them fixed.

The other 2 probs - downloaded ringtones sometimes 'drop out' - they stay on the system but you have to re-programme the phone the play them. And the paint on the front covers comes off way to easy!

I was in the same situation as you about 6 months back. I wouldn't recommend the 8210 cos it's so bloody small and hard to use. If you have average size fingers, then the buttons are very hard to use. I opted for the 3310 cos it is small enough and light enough, but big enough to use the buttons. Also, i have had a lot of friends with 8210's lose their phones, cos if they fall out of your pocket, you wouldn't realise because it weighs absolutely nothing.

I have a Nokia 8210, and as far as I've seen there are no problems with it (even if you have fat fingers ;)) There aer reports of the screens breaking easily, but I've dropped my fone before and it still works fine. The menus are easy to use and easy to understand. I suppose the only "negative" I have encountered is that you cannot program the ring tones manually but rather need someone to send it to you. But that really shouldn't influence your fone choice.

i looked at these 2 and chose a 8210. Now i wish i had a 3310. its too damn small and yeah. But thats about it. My mum got a 3310 but hasnt got a sim card so i sometimes use that, and it is heaps easier to use. when u go to the phone shop ask to see both of them and if the salesperson says "Everyone is going for the smaller phones" Dont listen to him. :p

The biggest complaint with the 8210 is that they are very easy to loose.
Not to mention that everyone I know that owns one has had problems with them.

The 3310 on the other hand seems to never have problems. It is still small enough but your not going to loose it down a key hole;) .I have never had a problem with it nor has any of my mates that own one.
And I must say its a tough cookie you have no idea how many times I have dropped this baby from second stories and getting out of cars.Sure the cover comes off as a safty mechanism, but 2 clicks and its as good as new.
Not to mention the 3310 is allot cheaper.

3310 by a mile

I've had my 3310 for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it!!!! :D Not a problem at all.

I've had a few friends with 8210's who have lost them, probably about 5 so yeah. They're cute but way too small and not at all practical.

3310 is definitely the way to go.

Neither. Get the 3330 which I have. A slight upgrade on the 3310, but it's a beauty!
Isn't the 3330 the same as the 3310 except that it has WAP? If so I really don't have a need for WAP that's why I didn't list this phone in this thread.

I have found that 3310's are much better than 8210's....I have a 3310 and a friend of mine has an 8210 (they even say mine is better). I think they are silly phones as you can't push the buttons with your fingers you have to use your nails to actually push only one button! 3310's are a better size so I think it's the way to go.

Yeah actually I just thought of another example. Friday night. Dee's 8210 kept dropping out and stuff so she had to rely on my trusty 3310. :D YAY I win. :D LOL

Actually I reckon the 5210 was the best phone Nokia have ever produced. Sturdy, and the battery lasted longer than any other phone I have ever had (I now have the 8210).

The problem with these newer phones is that battery life can't keep up with all the bells and whistles they are adding (like laptop computers I suppose).
