They have gone full rebuild and may be bottom half for the entirety of this contract.
When he signed they would have been talking finals tilts with Oliver and Trac in their prime
Only reason I can see for the fire sale is Tassie coming in. They want to be rebuilt and loaded before the Devils come in.

I find it amusing that Nick Daicos after being “robbed” of the Brownlow, couldn’t even win his own club’s B&F. And what the coach’s reaction? “We’ve got to change the rules!”

He’s a good player, no doubt, but the amount of sunshine they blow up his arse it’s a wonder he’s not glowing.

I'm really surprised the Swans let go of Will Hayward. He's a good player.

That Essendon move really helps on a couple of fronts. The Hawks miss out on picking up a gun midfielder… and they traded out Worpel, who’s not a gun clearly but added to their depth.
Also, it means the Bombers go forward without. Couple of good picks… slowing down their rebuild.

Yes, a few good results:
  • Pies didn't get any cheap good pickups (e.g. Jy Simpkin) to improve
  • Hawks lost depth and didn't gain a star
  • I don't really rate Saints additions - they should make them better, but not great (and lost Steele)
  • Bombers have kept Merrett but will his heart be in it next year? Added Fiorini, but still likely to have problems
  • Geelong didn't solve their ruck woes, nor add Curnow
  • Swans added Curnow, but at the cost of solid soldiers and draft picks
  • Dogs didn't solve their KPD woes
  • Adelaide didn't get Oliver or Petracca to improve their midfield
  • Port did nothing
  • Melbourne have gutted their premiership midfield
But:
  • Lions added quality (though did lose some depth) and have academy depth coming through
  • Suns have added quality and have endless academy kids coming through

Northern clubs did well, cost the South a bit though.
Hayward, Florent and three first rounders.

King Charlie cost a king's ransom, something the hard-heads on their board are well aware of.

He might not be another Buddy, but they won't want him becoming another Tippett.

Been having a look at King Charlie's stats against us over the last nine years.

We're his number one team for making unforced errors; he's made 36 against us, versus his average of 21 against everyone else.

We're his equal second team for frees he's conceded, and second last for frees going his way.

When it comes to winning Brownlow votes, he's only collected one in eleven matches against us.

I think Taylor and co. know how to deal with him.

I reckon Harry has always done better against us

I'm surprised at how Florent and Hayward say they were treated by the Swans during their exit process.

"We want you out. We want you gone".

What went on there?
That's pretty normal when clubs decide a player needs to be out for either salary cap or to recruit another player. Collingwood telling Treloar that none of his teammates actually wanted him around also sticks in the mind. Brisbane told Witherden that he was just going to play reserves for the rest of his contract unless he headed to West Coast - although he then helped recruit Oscar Allen so weirdly there didn't seem to be ill will for that one.

I know it's not pretty when players leave. Callan Ward had a rough time of it.

But that's not what I meant. Hayward is a pretty good player. Why would they want him gone?

Leadership comes from the top, Pridham is one of the biggest cu*** you will ever meet. An arrogant, self-serving, selfish, ruthless piece of garbage.

He has done everything possible to be disruptive to GWS to the point where it actually influences the running of their club.

If you look over the years at things that have happened at the Swans, they actually have a horrible culture. Yes they have been successful but at a great cost to lots of people.

It’s funny, they all used to call GWS a “plastic” club but in reality that fits the Sydney Swans to a tee…they eat their own.

This fits my general impression of the Swans

I can't say I've noticed a more obstructionist club of all the non-Vic clubs than the Swans

Hell, Lions - Sun's have a much better relationship than we do with the Swans. Those two clubs seem to actively work together to grow the game.

Here? The Swans look to obstruct and shut us down.

A portion of their supporter base wouldn't mind if the Giants folded or relocated and that tells you everything you need to know about that portion of the fanbase. In saying that, there is a segment of the Swans fanbase that are lovely and are genuine football fans and want to see the growth of football and Giants do well.

Though, the dislike surely comes from somewhere.
