Just when we were hoping Nic could have a nice, gentle, uninterrupted preseason (for the first time), Ross Lyin trolls us hard by selecting Nic in the International Rules squad. While he leaves out Pav and Sandi.

I hate you Ross, you and your darting eyes

Oh and disregard the No Opposition Supporters prefix, I added it for the lulz.

Now who's laughing, Reep?

Has anyone ever got a serious injury from the IR matches?

I don't dislike the International Rules, and if it's gonna be done then this is the sort of Australian team that needs to be put out.

But I would have preferred a couple of our other guys to get a run instead of NicNat who - given how crucial he is to our team and his run of fitness since the end of 2012 - really should be purely focussed on the 2015 AFL season.

Far out that is some squad... Unbelievable talent.

You would think they would cream the Irish, but you never know how well they will gel and who will master kicking the round ball.

Probably good they didn't pick the reining brownlow medalist . Those Irish whippets would run circles around him and just imagine the round ball shanks

Imagine if he did play and it turned out he laces out the round ball.

Seeing as the players have to had been an AA, Nic was our only option (assuming we had to have at least 1 player in the squad to boost ticket sales).

Cox & Glass gone, Waters coming back from injury. Wow that is a short and depressing list of AA on our list.....

TBH I don't mind him being in the team. Should be quite exciting to watch looking at the team. Not sure how I'll go supporting some of them tho. Boomer ugh........

I don't think the Eagles would let this happen if there was any remote chance of inflaming his old groin injury (feels weird to call it an old groin injury haha). So I'm OK with it.

At least this is the last series I'm pretty sure. Haven't the Irish decided to stop participating? Might be why this year's side is a big improvement on last year's.

I don't want him playing at all! Basically never had a pre season, been plagued by achilles and groin injuries for years, now one of only two recognised rucks on our list and they want him to play in some numpty international series which means naught?!

West Coast, put an end to this nonsense for the love of God.

He'll stub his toe during the game, and all we'll hear afterwards from the WCE will be "He's had an injury interrupted pre season"

Such is his norm.

If he doesn't join full training until March... then yes it will be injury interrupted...

A few Irishmen have suffered facial bruising

Campbell Brown suffered knuckle bruising
Always kinda felt embarrassed when the aussies made it part boxing match part football game

Really REALLY wanky

I think - purely to make both the pro and the anti crowd go ****ing mental - he would be a jet with the round ball and bend it like beckham

You would have all the antis in awe ...cheering - and all the pro crowd shitting on him for not backing you up in the real footy

This would cause a rift in the space - time continuum and probably lead to global thermonuclear war

All in all - pretty wise decision by the afl to pass on the brownlow guy - im guessing thats why they omitted him from the aa squad and left him right down the pecking order in all the other awards so it didnt look to obvious that we were tanking.

Can't understand the opposition. He'd cope more contact at training than he will from the Irish.

It's essentially a decent intensity training run for him with the added bonus of representing his country.

Run into his legs is exactly what he needs over the off-season.

He has never had a preseason - we would like to see him runnout for game one - just once - although more would be better - fit

I don't see how playing in this game changes anything?

He might get injured but he might at training too. He'll be playing against a side with little physicality.

The experience and fitness would be worthwhile.
