Sorry to intrude, but I felt I had to share.
Bumped into an old girl the other day in country NSW. Saw me in an old Hawks jumper and she bailed me up. Talked footy a little, then she piped up and mentioned her Great Uncle (no name mentioned) captained Fitzroy to a Premiership. I was intrigued. The she smiled and mentioned he was Captain of the Fitzroy side in the Tuesday arvo league. I'd never heard of it so she gave me the quickest of rundowns.
Basically, she mentioned it was the shop assistants league, as they couldnt play Saturday afternoons because of work committments, so played Tuesday afternoons instead. Did say it was definitely 'the real' Fitzroy.Couldn't exactly tell me when, but suggested may have even been pre VFL, or very early days at least, 1870s - 80s?
Couldnt tell me any more, but she was proud to talk it up and see the look on my face.
Anyone out there shed any light on this? I may have it all arse about, so no offence if thats the case.
