Retire Haradsun now or send him to either Hayes or Freedman.

Thoughts?

Didn't he pull up lame? That would explain his dreadful race today, has been consistent all spring without actually winning but really for a 40 million dollar horse you'd expect a few wins there. Give him a few more goes first before sacking him but he would want to lift.

Haradasun, despite the excuse today, has some 'cat-like' tendencies and has for a long time.

When everything goes his way he looks great, thats the problem - 12 months ago he was able to get easy little races (as a 3YO) that suited, he was cuddled up and kept clear of other horses and rounded them up and put them away. Now he's got to battle against other heavyweights, in larger fields and he's getting shown up. Running good seconds and thirds is nice, but horses who do that consistently in my opinion only back up that there may be a few little mental issues with the horse.

Surely could not be considered worth 40 Mill anymore.....You wan to be winning everything for that sort of a price tag

Most expensive horse in Australia and really hasn't lived up to the hype that was expected of him. Cant cut it with better horses, a bit like Miss Finland cant win out of her age class and against the bigger guys.

i would spell him and take him back up to sydney where he went okay earlier in the year. then spell him again and set him up for a crack at a c/cup. ride him back and see if he can settle and then come around them. he showed at moonee valley that he can go with el segundo when ridden back and that would certainly improve him.

i know it would never happen for obvious reasons but i wonder how he would go if they gelded him? kingston town certainly did improve after being gelded.....

Australia's most valuable racehorse Haradasun will round out his career in Europe in the care of champion Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien.

Earlier this year, Coolmore Stud bought a half share in the dual Group One winner for a reported $22.5 million but he has raced below par this spring and finished second last in Saturday's Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington.

Trained by Tony Vasil to win the George Ryder Stakes and Doncaster Handicap during the Sydney autumn carnival, Haradasun is a half brother to multiple Group One winner Elvstroem who listed the 2005 Dubai Duty Free among his racetrack successes.

Haradasun has had six starts this preparation and until Saturday's flop over 2000 metres had registered five minor placings including a third in the Cox Plate.

His six career victories have been between 1100 and 1600 metres and he will be kept to the shorter distances.

"Haradasun will do the rest of his racing in Europe," Coolmore's Colm Santry said.

"He'll be heading over to Ireland to continue racing and will probably be aimed at some of the good mile races in the new season."

The horse was lame after the Mackinnon and Vasil feared he had a serious problem but Santry said that did not appear to be the case.

"X-rays have been taken and there appears to be no damage," he said.

"The lameness is soreness and there is no apparent tendon damage."
