This is the side just released on the Official Hawthorn Homepage.

Now i know its only a squad at that some blokes are going to be trimmed. But really, are they serious? If ever theres a time to blood the youngsters its now, but my worst fears confirmed, M.Dent. Named. That to me suggests that the heirachy have actually got a role in mind for him. Please god no. Thats seven essentially half backs in the squad. Surely it would be better to see Clarke Ries or Greene? I only hope its not a portent of the future. From reports of the practice game, Dent was useless, maybe if they play him early they can realise the error of picking him up, and stick with the future NICHOLLS, Hazzell,Obst.

ps the above post is me getting the angst out of my system!

pps The MONSTAA wearing 23. Very happy with that!

Everyone should give Dent ago....
Sure I am not expecting much from him either but he is on the list and we have him until October at the least. The fact of the matter is that he should get a run in the Ansett cup so as to learn to fit in with the team etc etc as every recruit should. Really it is the more established players which should be rested as they can slot right in...... this is ofcourse unless we are going full on out to win the cup which may be the case:-)

have to agree with you there...this is the one chance the kids have to get a taste of AFL football.....what i'm concerned about is that they have handed him no.36..the same number barry young, last year's prize recruit, wore before it was realised that our backline was quite capable without him.

36. Also Paul Sharkey's number. Not a great sign. Does anyone know if Rehn is keeping his 52? The AFL site gives him 52, but it's useless, just gives whatever number the players had at their previous club. I'd kinda hoped he'd have Salmon's 4, but that's out. And what number is Barlow wearing? I see Bateman is 10. 6 and 16 are available.

Calm down, Grendel. I told you months ago that Dent was a CERTAINTY to get a gig during the Ansett Cup. How else are they going to know if they have a spot for him?

The kids will get their go. Don't worry about that!

im pretty sure rehn will have 52
im also pretty certain that steven greene will be wearing number 29 now that radar is 4!
