The commentary wasn't too bad - I only noticed the one VanB/Vince/Mackay miscall.

That's odd, cos they look exactly like Otten to me.You obviously missed the call of "Great mark by Porplyzia" in the fourth quarter. I was yelling at the TV "It was Tippet you ignorant idiots! He's only 1 foot taller than Porpoise!".
My theory is that they identify players purely by hair style & colour. Small details like height and number on the jersey are lost on them.

It was one time when watching it on TV was actually better than being at the ground.
We'll smash through the middle and slam a goal from 60 and it will be an almost monotone "That was great work". Get into it you tools, soooo damn boring to listen to.
There's a few people in the crowd that are stuck in the same timewarp.
Saturday night, we're slicing through the middle with running, attacking handball, and the dimwits in the crowd are shouting "KICK IT!!!"* and muttering things like "I'm sick of Craig's handball crap".
They can't tell the difference between the bad habits of defensive handball circles that we used to see, and the use of handball as an attacking weapon.
Yeah, I agree - although I'm probably not as teed off with the commentators as you are. That time is most definitely gone.
I've noticed it mostly this year, I will go to the game and it will be great to watch, we win and I'm all pumped up. I go home and put the recording on to re-live it all and am more often than not dissappointed.
And I didn't realise how well we had played (as opposed to just cruising past weak opposition) until I watched the replay.

That's why I made that post - it was weird on Saturday night, for some reason and don't ask me why, it just happened - although being at the game was very enjoyable, I just didn't get "pumped" by it. By the end of the game I was just sitting back and laughing when we sliced through and Porp and Tip were taking marks and kicking goals. Not my usual on the feet and fist pumpingAnd I didn't realise how well we had played (as opposed to just cruising past weak opposition) until I watched the replay.
Remember a couple of years ago when we put 30 past Essendon? That was party time, and the crowd was really up. I remember we were screaming for "30! 30!" in the dying seconds, and Kenny McGregor, who didn't know the score, couldn't work out why his closing goal got such a roar from the crowd
Wasn't like that on Saturday night - not for me anyway. Don't ask me why, just one of those things, I guess .
Possibly, that's the great thing about memoriesYeah I remember that game but I think the ending might have altered your memory of it a little.
Also it's probably influenced by where you are in the crowd and who's sitting around you - I'm sure there's a lot of variation across the ground.i dont mind pickering as a commentator.. id rather listen to him than brian taylor yell into the microphone all the time..
wish clinton grybas (if thats how you spell it) was still around to commentate, he was good.. i also liked dermie and gary lyon.. they knew what they were talking about
