Interesting to see that Matthews won't give up the number 4 guernsey to Lockett. Could you imagine Michael Jordan not being able to wear 23?

What do you folks think? Should Lockett be allowed his number back or is the whole thing too big a joke?

Lockett should fly the flag for his team & not create tension.

How unprofessional was that?

No **** him, Ben Matthews has done the right thing- it's not his fault that Lockett retired and changes his mind 2 years later!

Also Lockett previously said that whatever Matthews decided would be fine & that he'd not put any pressure on him one way or the other.

What a bitter statement he said on the news....

"I played my whole career in the #4".....really....then who was the fat bloke with #37 & #14 at the Saints?

Figments of our imagination?

Come on Tony, pull your finger out!

here here savatage

The de-stabilisation that Locketts comeback will cause in the club has already started.

Good on Benny Matthews for sticking to his guns.

and its time for Lockett to pull his freaking head in and get on with it.

I hope with all my heart that Lockett is a flop this time around and doesn't even make it through pre-season.

We were looking pretty good there for awhile, everything was going along smoothly, we were having what looked to be good, solid uncontroversial pre-season with some excellent draft pick ups, reasonably good trading period, minimal injuries, an excellent end of season trip, and some solid work on the track - now all this bull****.

Just what the Swans needed NOT

cheers

It took a lot of courage for an unproven youngster to seek out Lockett and ASK permission from the legend to wear his number.
That by itself should be enough for Lockett to realise that Mathews should keep the number 4.

... and I was really cheered up to read that Rodney Eade is 100 % behind Matthews' decision. Good stuff

Apparently at Hawthorn in the mid-70's Eade was wearing No.26, Peer Hudsons old jumper. When Hudson made a comeback, Eade refused to give up the old number and Hudson had to take the Number 1 jumper instead.

So Rocket could certainly identify with Matthews' dilemma.

cheers

BSA,

I'm fair dinkum going to have to join your fan club. You have once again stated my own thoughts beautifully, leaving me with nothing further to add.

Well done Benny.

We'll see, we'll see. As you can see from the length of time it has taken me to read this post, I only drop in here from time to time.

Didn't know about the last Sydney meet-up until after it was over!
