nVidia gt200?

i think that's what it's called. as far as i know the 9 series was just a time filler and nothing really new. a mate said august or so would be a good time to get a new pc so i can get the new chips. what have people heard?

The cards with that chipset, will be known as the nVidia GTX 260/280.

Coming out in a week or two. Around $US650, so probably $800 here.

thanks dude, so i'm assuming it will follow a similar system of pricing with the 8 meaning normal and the 6 being budget?

Or possibly 260 being normal, 280 being high. 260 is $US200 cheaper than 280 according to some reports.

Should be awesome and ridiculous overkill but, given my current 7600 GT is limping along with heat problems and probably some sort of memory damage given the number of times it crashes, I'm happy to bust out. Damn thing won't even run TF2 anymore.

well i don't play a great deal of fps so lotro is about as graphics intense as it gets for me. one will probably do for now methinks. although one could always 'future-proof', which is a salesmans term for overkill obviously chief.
