Fair game this.

Dallas leading by 15 at 3/4 time, NY come back to send it into OT on the back of 5 second half treys for Allan Houston.
Dallas dominate OT however.

A few stat stuffers tonight:

* Antoine Walker grabs a triple double (14, 12 and 11)
* Steph drops 36 with 14 assists
* Allan Houston drops 6 treys
* Steve Nash hits 12-16 shots
* Antawn Jamison hits 19 points in a little over a quarter, before going cold.

Shoots 6 of 18, takes two illadvised shots (and misses both) in last 4 minutes and has a crucial turnover with around a minute to go.

Can someone explain to me why Chaney would play alot of zone defense against the Mavs?! :confused:

You are damned if you do and damned if you do not....

Mavs have good shooters hence zone is illadvised.

Having said that NY does not match up well against Mavs either and if you play man on man then Mavs can always play isolation plays where there is a mismatch. For insatance if Kurt Thomas guards Dirk all Dallas needs to do against man on man is position Dirk high on the wing, with the ball, and everybody else screens away from the ball. With that much room to operate Dirk can take Kurt of the dribble and he is also very good at passing the rock if help defense rolls accross.

Therfore I guess Cheany tried to play the percentages in hope that long range shots would miss.

IMO he should have tried some full court trapping defence and to the half court line and then back to a 1 2 2 set up. Though the problem then is that he really does not have many athletic players with which he could execute this type of a defence over a longer period of time and can only do so for short stints.

Just detailing the full picture of his performance. You will also find that everything I said is accurate.

Walker to his credit realised he was stinking it up, and didn't attempt a FG in overtime. He started the game red hot. It would be better for everyone if he shot less and played to his strengths.
