Is Shane O'Bree playing injured? I thought he was one of Magpies best players at half time yesterday, but he hardly played in the 2nd half. The Herald-Sun reported today that he only played 58% of game time.

Is there any other reason why Mick kept him off the field so long?

i think the quick pace that the game was moving was against him abit and perhaps mick was trying to match their pace with young legs such as pendles, clarke, thomas etc.

Really don't know what games people watch sometimes!

Best in first half -

Maybe he was off caus he f*cks it up every time he disposes of the footy

I think everyone is being a little harsh on O'Bree. I think he is very valuable to our team and still plays a contributing role week in week out. Is much better than licuria for example. It's a little harsh naming him the clanger king as our whole team collectively leads the afl in clangers.

Name a player and half you lot say he is untradable because he either performs or has potential. Unfortunately when you don’t win the premiership it is generally because the combination of your players is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. O’Bree is one of the ones that is not good enough and when he is replaced by some one that is we will have a better chance at winning a premiership. Meanwhile we will have got nothing for him and that timeline is stretched out.

If all our players were so good we’d be on top and would have been since 2002. We can’t hope to do Clement trades every couple of years. Give what someone needs to get what we need. It takes guts and there can be pain. Hawthorn gave up Croad to get Hodge. No way in hell would 90% of posters on here remotely contemplate that. It took a million missed goals and off field f’ups for people to accept trading Tarrant and mostly that was after it was all over. Now here we are with Cloke having taken most of the Tarrant slack and Ben Reid having made a promising debut before he was considered ready due to circumstance opening a door.

Get a trade upgrade for O’Bree and a better kid enters the list while another midfielder gets the chance to do what O’Bree has been unable to do. O’Bree is not a dud but he has flaws we need to address. We can’t address them with Davies or similar either.

What are you going to get from an O'Bree trade? You're going to get an equally flawed player (a young player who hasn't come on quickly, a depth player that can't get a game at another club). Or you get a draft pick, and there is no way he will fill the hole O'Bree leaves unless we happen to pick a gun somehow in the 2nd round or so.

We should worry about getting or developing the player that will replace O'Bree before bothering to get rid of him.

I don't think we have a player that can do what O'Bree does in the midfield in terms of extrating the footy from the contest. Unless we can find someone who can do that with better footskills, I don't see how we can get rid of him unless we want to get killed in the middle. Just have to put up with his poor skills until we can get a midfielder with better skills that can be as good an extractor as him.

The fact we were able to dominate the clearances and stoppages in the first half against the Hawks had a lot to do with him.
