I think i know the answer to this however seeing as this is my first full time job/corporate company i have worked at i thought i would present this and see if it happens anywhere else.

My boss socialises out of work with some of our team members. I am talking to the point of getting drunk (and by the sounds of it maybe taking other 'things'), hanging out even on weeknights, visiting their houses with his boyfriend and now even sleeping over

am just stunned really  and worried now as we are having a big thing next weekend and despite saying that i am anti social and like to just stay home on the internet and watch footy, my name is down to go!

And the question is?

Yes. Lots of people who work in offices socialise with one another. I sometimes stayed over at co-workers places if I got to drunk/wasted to find my way home although I guess I didnt make a habit of it.

I shagged my boss once. Put in a good performance too. The bitch didn't even give me a promotion or pay rise. I felt used. Like a piece of meat.

co-workers? I am talking about the boss and his boyfriend here!

It happens all the time. Co-workers socialise with each other a lot. At least in my experience they do. They are the best co-workers to have. They are the type who will cover for you if you've made a major **** up at work, the type who listen to your temper tantrums because the work related stress is getting too much, the type who you invite to your weekend barbecues and parties and the type who drink with you on Friday nights and stay far too long at the hotel with. Yes, Spidey it is normal, yes even with the bosses, and yes even with the bosses partner.
It doesn't mean they are trying to get you into bed, it is just plain good old work colleagues letting off steam after work. It is normal!

Yes its very common and a great way to get to know your co-workers better, the internet is good but shouldn't rule your life. Go out next week and have some fun.

yes and no. Having friends in the office and socialising with them isn't a problem. But it is usually an issue if it is the boss.

If a boss were a good leader, they wouldn't socialise with their subordinates individually. Why?

1) It is hard for that boss to avoid favouritism between those he/she socialises with.
2) Even if they can be subjective, others won't see it that way.

A recipe for disaster.

So what happens when the boss is newly promoted? Do they just ditch their former colleagues but new subordinates as frinds?

1) No because they breeds resentment and deteriorates friendships ie he/she thinks he/she is too good for us now.
2) Best to be discrete and not take on any new subordinates as friends. Eventually people will move on and you make friends with fellow bosses or people outside work (ie your old work friends)

It is probably better to have a chat about it to your boss. Tell him that you are his employee and not your lover. He will get the picture.

Umm yeah, if they both agree with it. Is your boss homosexual? If he is why the big worry about him staying at a female co-workers place?

You people all have dirty minds apart from bunsen burners post (for once) professionalism is exactly what i am talking about not sex...and the issue of favoratism. How will he go about sacking these people if the need arises? I know all offices go out for drinks socialising every week and that is very much normal. That is not what i am questioning it is the constant 'hanging out' with the workers under him that i am thinking is fairly odd. Going overto their houses getting one of the girls to cut his boyfriends hair, going to gay bars with the lezzos we have there etc etc.

Yes the boss is homosexual and his boyfriend doesn't work with us he is in the Police force.

by the way is that kid dynamite on the photos page related to you
Nope. I was only responding to your post after you had said that your boss had put you on the list for a dirty weekend.
I say talk to your boss about it and tell him that you're his employee and not his lover.

Weekend work function and dirty weekend not necessarily the same thing. Seems like you are reading what you want to read rather than what is actually there. Mantis and Bee will be proud as punch that you have joined their group.
