A huge and warm reception from crowd and players as Lara headed off but he was clearly unhappy - as well he might be - and he wasted no time in heading off. Samuels sold him down the river and Lara never had a chance to get back once Pietersen had picked up cleanly ... all he had to do was amble in and underarm the ball into the stumps from four yards.

Samules made a pretty exciting 50 but had to go on to redeem himself and unfortunately meant that not only the Windies lost but Brian didn't get his fairy tale ending. Best game of the World Cup so far though.

I would of loved to see him make some more runs, but i am kinda glad he got run out.
None of those pathetic pommy bowlers are worthy enough to dismiss the great man in his final innings.
It would of been a shame to see some chump like Anderson, Plunkett or Flintoff dismiss him.

Lara has been mostly surrounded by lazy, incompetent and selfish cricketers for his entire career.

As Ron said, it's fitting that one of these incompetent team mates dismissed him, as he doesn't deserve to be dismissed by any of the rubbish bowlers the Poms have.
