Could anybody enlighten me on what is on going up at Keilor Hill?

The club was flying 2 years ago and only a half of decent football away from A Grade. Since then, it appears coaches have left, boardroom turmoil unfolded, the inability to appoint a new coach, players leaving..... Disgruntled reservers players....

Where did it all go wrong?

Benny MOF this has troubled me also, i was on the record as saying OEG were the next big thing but since then it has all fallen apart. I think they missed their chance in 2003-4, they had a very talented team those years, reguarly beating the promoted teams but for whatever reason they never made it to the Grand Final. I thought their side lacked a BEAKon up forward last year and the injury to Tim Biggs was a big blow.

If they get their act together they will be hard to beat in B section next year but promises of A Grade Glory look some way off.

I wish them well, they still do a run a mean cocktail night and that must count for something.

BP

I'm merely trying to figure out why things went pear shaped when things seemed so rosy.

As you seem to know a fair bit, could you help?

I think the sliterin snake hit the nail on the head... a Dunnel hang over in 2005, but things look back on track for 2006.

Details to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

It would be interesting to hear Diamond 8's take on it all. Considering his close involvement.

"They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men." Psalms 73:5

The troubles of Benny MOF are greater than those on Old Essendon

Probably best to look at this from a lyrical perspective.

I think it was Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons who uttered the words "So close and yet so far".

Spandau Ballet also sung "Communication let me down and I'm left here"

For those involved at Nth. Rachelle Road I believe your new coach will be announced shortly.

What was the MASH theme song?

News just to hand, 2005 StBernard's reserves coach Darren Handley to be announced Old Essendon coach within minutes....

Is this a joke?

I think it is a positive step... much better than getting an ex-AFL player with his head stuck up his arse, massive ego and doesn't understand the Ammo's culture . It was a case of 3rd time lucky for the boys from Calder Freeway South.

It would seem you boys have made a good move getting away from the ex-AFL players as coach. Haven't you had 3 in the last couple of years without much success?

We've had 2 in 3 years... Dunnell was a typical ex-AFL tosser and Calthopre, while being a good bloke was frustrated by the amateur culture.

I wish you only renewed prosperity for the upcoming season. I will enjoy another tussle with your team again next year.

Old Essendon Appoint New Coach

Old Essendon Amateur Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Handley as the senior coach for the season 2006.

Darren has vast experience having played at AFL level under both Leigh Matthews and David Parkin at Collingwood and Fitzroy respectively. He has played at VFL level for Box Hill and coached St Bernard’s Reserves to a premiership.

The Club welcomes Darren on board and we look forward to a successful 2006 season after competing in finals in 2005.

Practice matches are set against Old Ivanhoe March 25, MHSOB April 1 and Whitefriars April 18. Training dates will be advised shortly.

The Club thanks David Calthorpe for his efforts in 2005 and wish him success with his roles at both the Essendon Football Club and Bendigo Bombers.

I wonder if he will be able to entice any former St Bernard's players across. One name that springs to mind is Justin Evans.

"The Grammar" are arguably the worst club in the top two grades of the ammos. They will NEVER make it to A-Grade. Why? In a word- CULTURE. Keilor Hill is full of sooks. Flat track bullies who ain't goin any further than B-Grade.

Big hello to all you OEG fans out there.

I still remeber the day that Old Essendon's seconds walked off at Brindisi Street, because the centre wicket was a little hard, they refused to play the remainder of the game.

Their seniors got to 50 point lead that day which would have had them in the finals only to choke and lose by 2 points.

Says a lot really.
