For the older heads around here: I grew up with both Isiah as my hero, and my brother was all about Magic, so it's really odd to see this kind of stuff happen, especially between two grown men. Still, seperating the 'men' from the 'athlete' still allows me to be totally stoked on them as players

enjoy, it's a good read:

When he heard the criticisms from his former friend Magic Johnson in a soon-to-be-released book, Isiah Thomas said he'd had enough. And so he began to fight back.
"I'm really hurt, and I really feel taken advantage of for all these years,'' said Thomas, the Hall of Fame point guard and former NBA coach and executive, most recently with the Knicks. "I'm totally blindsided by this. Every time that I've seen Magic, he has been friendly with me. Whenever he came to a Knick game, he was standing in the tunnel [to the locker room] with me. He and [Knicks assistant coach] Herb [Williams] and I, we would go out to dinner in New York. I didn't know he felt this way."

Isiah is definitely incompetent... if nothing else.

And I need to read this book as I wouldn't have picked this from Magic at all.

I wonder why he's chosen now to all of a sudden supposedly "come clean" about Isiah in general??

Isiah should get he back by trading for every injured ex-superstar with an inflated back end contract....oh wait.

I love Magic, but bad form.

magic has been misquoted and taken out of context. it was all MJs fault isiah didnt make the team. anyway the last spot was between pippen and isiah. mj said if pip wasnt selected he'd walk.
Hmmm... I remember Isiah making the team but then ruptured his achilles tendon which finished his career not too long before the Olympics... All this "don't want him on the team" biz sounds a little far fetched to me. Also, Christian Laettner would've been dropped for Pip, surely (am i the only one who remembers he was on the team?)

Magic really does come across a douche in that piece. Would be an interesting book to read.

That was Dream Team 2, from the 94 World Champs.

Roster of Shaquille O'Neal, Dominique Wilkins, Alonzo Mourning, Shawn Kemp, Reggie Miller, Derrick Coleman, Joe Dumars, Kevin Johnson, Mark Price, Steve Smith, Dan Majerle, Larry Johnson with Tim Hardaway and Isiah missing with injury.

Ah, i see... forgot all about that one... I actually had Isiah's team USA jersey from then, forgot it was for the WCs...

this team epitomised selfishness and uncontrollable egos. from memory there were team mates fighting for the same rebound at times. probably coleman and lj.
