Credit where it's due, Caro has written quite a balanced article, highlighting the strong and weak points of Eddie's presidency, as well as the work that he has put in to change his approach and improve upon his weaknesses.

I must admit though, my first thought was to wonder whether the work experience kid had written the article under Caro's name while she is on holiday! ;)

Perhaps it's a sign of the apocalypse, Caro writes a positive article about Collingwood.

Can anyone with a knowledge of the bible confirm or deny this? :p
Don't worry - the apocalypse has been delayed again. Things are now back to normal, with Caro back to blaming Collingood ... for just about anything she can think of. The State Gov't has decided to charge athletes who use the new the new Athletic stadium - but apparently, this is somehow, mysteriously, Collingwood's fault - at least according to Caro -

One of the great ironies of Melbourne's inner landscape is the fact that John Landy's famous moment of sporting heroism is depicted in a statue in front of what barely remains of Olympic Park and will soon become the domain of the Collingwood Football Club.

The bureaucratic thicket that saw the Magpies win a deal on prized land once bequeathed as a running track and sporting precinct for the people of Victoria has various versions. But no one disputes the fact the Brumby government did a deal with Collingwood and the Melbourne Olympic Park Trust and athletics was moved away from its traditional home.

Any suggestion that athletics was being treated as a second-class citizen in Melbourne was hotly denied by all the major players, apart from those in athletics. The loudest denials of all came from Magpies president Eddie McGuire, who was also a director on the Athletics Australia board.
McGuire led a chorus insisting that the athletes would be far better off at their new home in Albert Park,...

... The Saturday Age understands that anyone using the track could be forced to pay $50 annual membership to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and could also then be additionally charged each time they used the track to train. This is despite the fact athletes have trained at Olympic Park for free in recent years ... this surely is the final insult.

Duped by layer upon layer of government and one of the country's most powerful football clubs, whose own emerging stars train and learn their craft in parks around the nation for free,...
So apparently it's just not good enough for Collingwood to look after it's own interests - we are now held responsible (at least by Caro) for state gov't decisions!

Yeah I don't get what the issue is. The athletes get new and better facilities a few km's down the road and the Pies take over the old grounds. If they want to then use Collingwood's training facilities instead of their own they might have to pay $50/year to do so (and that $50 doesn't even go to Collingwood). Wowee. Talk about flogging a dead horse.

Is Caro offering some sort of olive branch because Ed hasn't taken her to task for her moronic-ness for a while now?

Actually, the $50 is for the use of the facilities at the new centre, not Collingwood's facilities. This is purely a State Gov't decision - as Collingwood has no say (obviously) in the running of the new athletics stadium. Yet in todays article, Caro has somehow pinned the blame for the fee on Collingwood! Just amazing - or just back to her typical anti Collingwood hysteria.
