Despite the media panning the Pies for getting rid of a proven coach in favour of an unproven rookie...
Despite the Buckley haters coming out of the woodwork after getting smashed in Round 3 with half-a-team out...
Despite loosing Taz, Brownie, Heater, Tooves, BJ, Swan, Pendles, Ball, Caff, Kraks, Keeffe, Reid, etc... for extended periods during the season...
Despite the inability to field a stable side due to injuries to key players...
Despite having to blood kids thrown into the deep end against bigger players...
Despite the constant challenges being thrust upon us week after week...

WE HAVE REACHED THE SUMMIT

Challenge now is staying there.

BTW: and Carlton is 9th - life is good :)

Being on top now feels so much better than it did at any point last year. Success in spite of the odds is so much sweeter than cruising.

Given our next month it will be a challenge to retain it when you see that WCE have a couple of soft ones in the next couple of weeks but as I said on Saturday, the guys just keep rolling out the pleasant surprises. With the side getting as close to full strength as its likely to get this year over the next few weeks it is starting to look seriously doable. Watching some of the analysis on TFS yesterday it just looks like Bucks has the guys extremely disciplined in maintaining structures and while we sometimes drift away from them for short periods, the final few minutes on Saturday night showed that when the chips are down they all return to those structures including the kids. Kudos to Bucks and the discipline of the team.

This is why I kept saying that we wont have a proper idea of where everyone is until rounds 8-10.

Amazing effort given half the side has been out for almost every game this year. I mean seriously, the team that beat Weast Coast still needs Pendlebury, Didak, Sinclair and Tarrant to come back in.

Holy shit.

Boner alert.

It just goes to show development is just as important as drafting.
IMO the AFL should have a proper reserves league just as it did when I was growing up. Cos I feel Geelong and us have a bit of an unfair advantage in that sense.
