Since when is one goal worth two goals???
But it’s the Bomber rookies I feel for. We’ve all been there, we had someone try to recruit us, and we replied with “you what now???”
Then they explain it to us. They describe the fun you can have, the community feel. And the way the games work.
The Bomber rookies joined the league with the reasonable expectation that they could watch themselves do extraordinary things on the Qooty field. They joined the Bombers wide eyed, and hopeful that “their team” would compete in a competitive manner, and they’d enjoy the wins and mourn the losses. They’d feel part of a team and a community.
What they didn’t expect is the “**** you” from the simmers. What no one could prepare them for was, not just the manufactured results because too many people have axes to grind, due the resentment of the Bombers’ strength. But the slap in the face, the contempt, the indignity, the disregard, and the malice of “we’re ****ing you over TO YOUR FACE, and there’s nothing you can do about it!”
One goal DOES NOT EQUAL two goals.
But when you’re a Bomber, you learn to live with the open hatred. Myself and some of our stalwarts are acclimatised, and accustomed to it.
But these rookies did nothing to anyone. They just wanted to join a league and a community that sounded fun and had some integrity about it.
How wrong they were!
Disgraceful treatment of the Bombers all season, punctuated today by an open “**** you” that was as subtle as a sledge hammer. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.
