You just don't see them around like you used to.

This reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld's comment about a marching band being a perfect example of taking something bad and making it worse. You try and walk away from the bad music and they just follow you.

Of course, on the subject of one man bands, the greatest example of all time is Prince. From his very first album everything was "composed, produced, arranged and performed by Prince". Chris Moon's naming as co-producer on his debut album For You was nothing but a furfee to meet the demands of the record company that Prince have someone experienced to guide him. This was not necessary.

Haha, I'm not sure that it's a bad thing you don't see it too often.

Although I'm not a fan Xaver Rudd is a fairly talented one man band. He uses a plank of wood and his bare foot for a drum sounding beat and numerous other instruments aswell.

These days in the Pop music industry it would be hard to find an artist that did anything themselves

These days in the Pop music industry the 'artists' are just good looking people with autotune and other peoples lyrics.

Those wer ethe days when you would see a guy wearing funny pants literally beating his own drum.

They are a dying bred. So too are unicycle riders, where have they all gone???

going down the same path as Bos, i'd say Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails is a good example. considering he is the only official studio member of the band, he is literally a one man band, just not live.

Adrien Belew of King Crimson fame generally plays all the instruments on his solo albums with the occasional guest musician(s). Frank Zappa used the Synclavier musical computer, most notably on the Jazz From Hell album.
the Foo Fighters debut album was recorded entirely by Dave Grohl.

But another one man "band" so to speak would be Robert Fripp during his "Frippertronics" and "Soundscape" years. but that was more of a one man ambient string section.

Don't think the Veronicas are entirely goth... they don't dress in full black all the time and don't wear enough white make-up to look like a walking corpse.

You're right. I think their half arsed attempt is called "lesbo goth".

"I go ooh-ooh, you go aah-aah, la la la la, la la la la"

The future of Oz music is in safe hands people!

I would mention penny farthing bicycles, but surely u will dedicate a separate thread to them ...

Close but there are still pockets of them who come out of nowhere every now and again....same as guys on stilts.

It's amazing that people can take this pathetic attempt at "music" seriously!

Bloody awful if you ask me.

Think your spot on with the Lesbo-goth call, once perfected by the great Ta-tu ;)
