Mashed potatoes and gravy. An absolutely guilty pleasure.

I think I've gone through stretches where I've develped an addiction the the KFC potato & Gravy. I got physical cravings at 3ish every afternoon!

I've kicked it though, I'm clean now!

True that... and not meaning to tempt you, but Red Rooster's potato & gravy is better-tasting. It's just got a creamier texture to it...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm... excellent idea. I'll have to dig up a recipe for that later-- and maybe even for tomorrow morning. :p

Just did a search for potato pancakes on ichef.com-- and while there are other specific recipes for this delicacy, here's the basic gist of it...

Potato Pancakes
Source: Cooking at a Glance - Vegetables & Grains
Serves 4 as an accompaniment

These pancakes will vary in hue from orange to gold to cream depending on the flesh colour of the potatoes or sweet potatoes used. Choose any good frying potato from the many varieties now available. Sweet potatoes not only add bright colour, but also lots of vitamin A.

12 oz sweet potatoes or potatoes, peeled and coarsely grated
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 lightly beaten eggs
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 fl oz cooking oil
Sour cream
Applesauce or slightly sweetened cooked pureed apple

In a large mixing bowl stir together grated sweet potatoes or potatoes, onion, and eggs. Add flour, salt, and pepper; stir till combined.

In a large frying pan heat 2 tablespoons of the oil; spoon the pancake batter into frying pan, using 2 fl oz batter for each pancake. Cook for about 5 minutes, or till golden brown, turning once. Add additional oil as necessary during cooking. Drain on paper towels.

Keep the pancakes warm in a preheated 300 degrees F oven while cooking remaining pancakes. Serve hot with sour cream and apple sauce or pureed apple.

Enjoy!! :D

LOL! Nah I prefer the KFC one. But RR will do if I need a quick hit! :D

Rightly or wrongly (and yes I sense the scowls of derision), I'd classify roast potato as "plain old potato". Throw the bastard in the oven or whatever, and not much more to it. :o

Personally I don't mind a bit of wedges with sour cream, but the specific product I prefer is KFC chips dipped in KFC gravy. It's mostly the salt and the gravy that makes the meal, so I'll stick with voting for wedges.

So what makes wedges any different to roast potato? Just chop 'em up, brush them with oil and throw 'em in the oven. Add a bit of sour cream to dress them up! There you have it another version of roast potato, just not as classy without the garlic and rosemary! You've gotta stop hanging around fast food stores and start eating some real food! :p

P.S. I never knew that about vodka. Fancy that. Another bit of useless information gleaned from this site. :D
