Anyone have some good tips for online bargains for good kit?
IE Quality bibs/knicks/tights/jerseys at good prices delivered to Australia.
I was getting some good deals from the US but the exchange rate is of course down now.
Also still looking for that elusive "Assos" quality without the big hit to hip pocket.

This site has been the benckmark for the past 5 years, though has had its problems in the past year (mainly just not having stuff in stock, which i guess is a product of their success):

www.probikekit.com

postage is 10 bucks to Oz (insanely cheap) and it has heaps of cheap kit, lots of options.

Torpedo7 is ok, based in NZ. Average kit selection

www.torpedo7.com.au

I like this site, has some different stuff:

www.prendas.co.uk

wiggle, chain reaction and total cycling are also worth having a look at.

I find US sites are generally more expensive and the way they charge postage is mystifying.

Best site is Chainlove.com. Outlet for backcountry.com.

They have 1 deal only at a time at prices upto 80%. They have some quality stuff come up every now and then, and it is everything from clothes, tools and bikes. Not sure what they charge shipping to Oz. .

What I meant bt "Assos" was which other brands of kit would rival them for quality but might be a bit cheaper?

'Everyone' seems to suggest that Assos is the best. But (if so) who is 2nd & 3rd best?

I guess I'm looking for a maker like http://www.velowear.com/default.aspx who make and supply their own stuff rather than an online store like PBK who sell many brands.
(Velo-wear don't send to Oz.)

The bibs are the important part of your kit. I have three different brands that I use, and the quality is extremely good and would be ranked in this order. The price is also ranked in this order, so you tend to get what you pay for.
  • Skins
  • Campagnolo
  • Nalini

Assos is still very expensive "online" compared to what you can pick these brands up for, and they're VERY good!
