Couched lovingly in my latest cable bill from Optus is a "change of service" from 1 March, $6.12+GST plus $6.32+GST for April, to include the "Internet Security Suite."
Fine print on the front says "Optus Internet Security Suite not only protects you from malware threats but also provides a range of great features such as Parental Control which helps control the websites your kids are visiting. Visit optus.com.au/securitysuite for more information."
Nearly half an hour on hold later, I get an optus drone telling me that I must have signed up for it during the free period and I was sent an email confirming that if I didn't cancel my subscription, I would be charged from 1 March.
Told him not only did I not sign up for it, the last email I got from Optus was last September in relation to a trouble ticket, and quoted the date and time.
He still reckoned I was lying but allegedly cancelled the sub and processed a credit for the $14-odd.
I guess I'm just one of thousands being hit up for this, check your account as its all too easy with direct debit etc to let it slip through to the keeper.
