OUT Jake King

I don't see him as a midfielder. I think it would be a step backward to the days when the likes of Sziller and Flemming got a run in the guts.
I love King's attitude and attack on the ball/man but he does make a lot of mistakes and struggles to hold a quality small forward. It's a hard one. There's no doubt he adds an edge and provides an example but weighing that up against his errors it's a line ball thing. Until someone else seizes his spot I reckon we have to keep him in there.

I reckon half the problem is that other coaches have seen him as such an important backiline player for us and are trying to have a better matchup on him, he seems to always be getting taller goalsquare type players that simply are not the best job for him, in time with players like Raines back it could well free up JK for better jobs.

I wouldnt classify him with the likes of flemming, kellaway, sziller, this kid can kick, his skills are surprisingly good, its just these lapses he seems to have. I think in the midfield rotation, his drive and tenacity would be of greater benefit to us than currently off the HBF where he is getting exposed. Let him scratch and annoy the likes of Mitchell, murphy, kerr, ablett. He has speed, he can kick juist keep it away from our defensive goalsquare :)

settle it down Jako. Trying to hard to impress. No need to take on the world dude....just take a lead from the Thurst book of errorless footy. There are others out there who will do the party tricking..you just need to make sure..thats all. ;)

I agree he's better than Fleming and Sziller and a better kick than Dunc, but Dunc could lock onto a man and shut him down, which made him valuable. It might be worth a try with King, I'm not against it, but he has yet to prove he can stop a bloke like Milne, let alone Mitchell.

Hes also got beautiful skills and has been in the coburg reserves best every week since returning from a long injury. I'm not entirely writing him off yet.

Pfftt... Cobrug Reserves? The Burgers ressies win every week by 100 points, players like even Howat have dominated with 40 diposals a game. Most district footy leagues a better, divy 2 ressies of the EFL would be better. Not a great indication, afterall this is the same guy who struggled to get into double figures posession wise for Coburg last year.

I would like to see him play a few AFL games before the end of the year to see where he is at, but like Conners I'm not holding my breath.

If you reckon we are going to drop a guy who got 8 tackles and kept his man to 1 goal on Saturday night, you are kidding yourself.

I didn't say he should be dropped, I said he should be given a rocket. Two entirely different things

I dunno how you can class Meyer and Connors together. One has shown bugger all and the other plenty in just 4 games. Once Connors gets fit, in form and focused he will never look back.

Sorry Richo, hit quick reply on the wrong post.

Would you rather he was in the coburg ressies AND showing nothing? I hope he gets another go because he does have talent, its really down to attitude and injuries. Anyway, Kel Moore has had 2 more years than him...and hes only just shown something! Give him till the end of this year at least...

As for what richoatthedisco said, what has connors really shown? Meyer has had a few decent senior games, most notably the one against geelong. Neither of them have shown anything really though. Connors and Meyer both have sublime skills, connors is harder and has more aggro, whereas meyer is soft but fast and agile. Theres a place for both of them in the future.
